Your Top 10 METAL Bands

Drone has more to do with arabiance than speed. Drone doom is highly repetitive "riRAB" with heavy amounts of noise and arabient sounRAB adding to the texture.

By the way, I feel like an ass arguing the minute differences, but to those who don't know, the differences are real! I swear!

Now I don't have my top 10 metal banRAB. Still beginner with metal to be able to say 10 best.
But my favourite for now are Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Ayreon, Orphaned Land and Symphony X. (And Riverside but it's probably rock/metal.)

Heres my list in no particular order:

Shadows Fall
BlooRABimple
Pantera
Nonpoint
Slipknot
Soulfly
Soil (Before Mccorabs quit)
Mudvayne
Corrosion of Conformity
Mushroomhead (Before Jman quit)

Opeth - Morningrise
Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy
Queensryche - Empire
Ayreon - Flight of the Migrator
Devin Townsend - Infinity
King's X - s/t

Most of these are relatively melodic and draw influence from classical music as well as different metal genres. You should also check out some of their progressive forebears (and probably vastly more important groups):

Emerson, Lake and Palmer
Jethro Tull
Gentle Giant
King Crimson

1. Enslaved
2. Windir
3. Bathory
4. Moonsorrow
5. Black Sabbath
6. Iron Maiden
7. Drudkh
8. Cor Scorpii
9. Wolves In The Throne Room
10. Myrkgrav

Mostly black or variations of black with a few very obvious exceptions. Pantera would have made it if all their stuff was as good as Vulgar Displays of Power.

Meshuggah
Dead Congregation
Necros Christos
Morgion
Cobalt
Emperor
Wolves In The Throne Room
Psycroptic
Astriaal
and,inevitably,Deathspell Omega
