Your long lost obscure movies

I remember a load of hype in the 1970s over a film called
"The last snows of spring"
It was a tear jerker but I can't remember what it was about

I remember the trailers for Last Snows of Spring when it was due to come out. It created a mini-frenzy, I seem to recall. Wasn't it supposed to be the saddest film you would ever see in your whole life ever...?

It was about a dying child and all I remember of it now is the last shot of the father with the dead son on a fairground roundabout. I know that my mother was desperate to see it, but didn't get the opportunity to at the cinema, so had to watch it on video a couple of years later. My other memory is that we laughed like drains!

A film I always try to catch is "And soon the darkness.." with Michelle Dotrice and chum cycling around a seemingly deserted 70's French countryside being pursued by a madman. I think he was played by someone from CrossroaRAB...

Rawhead Rex turns up on the Horror Channel on freeview from time to time. Eat the Rich - isn't that a Comedy Strip film? They're all tied up in the same kind of limbo I think. Melody - no idea! What's it about? Who's in it?

I've heard of Rawhead Rex & Eat the Rich, and I thought I might have seen Eat the Rich but I just looked it up on IMDB and it doesn't seem familiar. SounRAB good though.

Edit

If it was a Comic Strip one then I might have seen it.

I see (on IMDB) that Melody is an Alan Parker film - his stuff is usually worth watching.

The Reincarnation of Peter Proud - a spooky little ghost story/thriller with Margot (Lois Lane) Kidder that I saw on telly what must be about 20 years ago. Never been on again since and no sign of it being on DVD. Would love to see it again.

Killer's Moon - a video nasty type horror about some escaped psychos that I saw at an all nighter at college years ago and was delighted to read in this month's Empire that it's getting a DVD release at last. Uncut too.

Death Weekend (aka House By The Lake)- another video nasty about a couple getting attacked in his luxury lakeside retreat & her revenge against the attackers. Saw it at the cinema on a double bill with Straw Dogs. Again, no sign of a dvd release.

Can I be cheeky & add a TV series - Perfect World with Paul "Dennis Pennis" Kaye. Remember laughing out loud many times watching it, but it's never been repeated (AFAIK) & not on dvd. Release it. Now. Please.

Needless to say, all of them could turn out to be crap if I saw them again, but I'd like the chance to be able to do so, which I can now with Killer's Moon obviously.

I remember watching that as a young 'un and being very worried that it might be true!

Thought of a film that I've only ever seen once on TV but I can still remember one of the songs from it "Don't Say There's Nothing To Do In The Doldrums".......The Phantom Tollbooth!

I think I might have seen that double bill as well!
What a combo.

Everyone watch Freebie & the Bean tonight! It's one of my favourite films.

The Legend of Spooky Hollow (1999)--smashing little Canadian version with a great central performance by Canadian actor Brent Carver.
