Your long lost obscure movies

Deadly Weapons will go down in cinema history for having the worst fight scene ever filmed. Halfway through the "fight" plasters even appear on one of the guy's faces. And why is the same carpet in every single location?
What a way to die tho :D

I saw a film, many years ago now (it was on telly one afternoon in the mid 80s) based on the wonderful French book by Patrick Cauvin, E=mc2 Mon Amour. However, the film had a different title, and I can't remember what it was. But it's about a very bright American schoolgirl meeting a very bright French schoolboy in Paris, and despite being about 12, decide to run away to Venice together or something, which perhaps isn't the brightest thing to do. I'd love to see it again.

La Cabina (The Telephone Box) A short Spanish film about a man who finRAB himself trapped in a telephone box. The final scene still disturbs me after all these years.

Jack The Giant Killer is out on dvd, I bought it last Christmas :)

I used to have Dr Lao on video, taped it off BBC2 years and years ago... can't find the tape now tho after moving house a few times. Shame because that is one weird film and a good shout. I can remember him changing into a snake at one point - it was quite disturbing for a unrated movie.

Hehe it's a true cheesy classic. I have it on video, I'm gonna dig it out this week and watch it for the first time in years. You've opened up a can of worms now :D

Me and a mate used to use Trog as a yarRABtick for measuring bad movies - whenever either of us saw a bad film the other would say "was it worse than Trog???".
Bad movies were given a trog-value.

That's what I remember most from the film - the bl**dy carpet! Apart from the other 2 things of course.

Yep, it's been a while since I've seen them too but it's finding the right time to watch them, well they're hardly family entertainment and I feel a little bit dirty watching them on my own. But I've been meaning to watch them again for a while now.

Have you seen any of Pam Grier's early stuff? It's a similar vein to Chesty's, they've got that same raw energy.

I have Dr. Lao on R1 dvd. ISTR it has both widescreen & pan & scan versions on it.

Aren't there various versions of JTGK too? Different lengths & even one with added songs!

The Stuff - Really got to me as a kid.

More recently: La Haine and Man Bites Dog. - 2 french films that i'd urge anyone to see. Pure class.

Lol, the China O'Brian films and No Retreat No Surrender.

And now I've looked - I remember that the Laurence Olivier bit was all added for the film and wasn't in the book (which I found after I'd seen the film, and which is excellent.)

That's been out on dvd for quite a few years now, have it in my collection. It's not really "obscure" in the true sense, was quite a hit in the States, just never gets shown on UK tv. :(
