Your First Rock Album

The first "rock" album I ever owned was a burned copy of Sum 41's "All Killer, No Filler" & Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory/Reanimation" (I'm still not sure which one it was to this day) on the same CD.

I still love Linkin Park. And Sum 41 helped fuel my later love for punk rock. I didn't really get into rock music in general for a few years later though with banRAB like System Of A Down, Linkin Park & Limp Bizkit.

Memory cheats sometimes.

I had a massive argument with my frienRAB mother when she was totally convinced she bought Alice Cooper's Schools Out album in 1969.

Does it have to be an LP or a CD? What about a cassette? Yeah, that's right, I grew up in the 80s. All the music I bought was on cassette. :D

Anyway, the first cassette I ever bought was "Document" by REM when I was in 4th grade back in 1987, when that album was brand spanking new.

I didn't own a CD player until the fall of 1992. The first CD I ever bought was "Swing the Heartache" by Bauhaus. I remeraber I didn't have much money on me and had to choose between buying dinner or buying the CD. Even though I was really, really hungry I figured I'd be happier the next day if I bought the CD so I went for it.

And I think the first record I ever purchased was "Meddle" by Pink Floyd. I was in 7th grade so that would make the year 1989 or 1990.

Eh, Gorillaz by Gorillaz was first ever album bought by myself.
First rock one was Toxicity by System.
Then metal one was the mighty Reign In Blood.
