Your fave FOREIGN LANGUAGE movie??

I love Il Postino.

Watched it three times. Very touching. The actor died shortly after the movie was filmed

Has anyone watched a Greek movie called 'Peppermint'? I love it!

Quite a few i like.. but fave by far is Jean de Florette (and maybe Manon des Sources). I wouldnt say its the best foreign film necessarily, but personally I have just always loved it.

It just has to be Seven Samurai, I can watch that film over and over again.

I also like Battle Royale (well, any film with Chiaki Kuriyama!) and perhaps because I watched Ringu before there was too much hype attached to it, I really enjoyed that.

I've only ever seen one Bollywood movie, Raja Hindustani, one night on Channel 4 ages ago, but it was really enjoyable - just lots & lots of fun.

Favourite European film probably Run Lola Run (enjoyed Open Your Eyes too, much better than Vanilla Sky), and can't let this post go by without mentioning City of God. :)

EDIT: Sorry, just need to mention a few more.. doing this has finally made me realise I prefer foreign language films:
A Tale of Two Sisters (beautiful film!)
Audition
Y tu Mama Tambien
Feng Shui (Final Destination-style silly Filipino horror)
All About Lily Chou-Chou
Spirited Away (can't get used to watching the dubbed version!)
Boiling Point

Christiane F, Very moving German film about a young girls struggle with heroin, with music by (and guest appearance) David Bowie. Early video release had awfull American dubbed accents, the subtitled version is far more enjoyable.

Grave of the Fireflies ( I only ever saw it in Japanese )
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Belleville Rendezvous

The first makes me cry. The seconRAB leaves my mouth hanging open. The third leaves me rolling on the floor.

RUN LOLA RUN didn't do much for me. But I'm willing to give it another go. Thanks to the people who mentioned RINGU, LA HAINE & LA RENNE MARGOT - all excellent too. I remember being in the cinema seeing LA HAINE and when the final incident happened and the credits started rolling there was UTTER SILENCE in the cinema and nobody moved until the entire credits finished. I've also just remembered THE NASTY GIRL - fascinating German film.
