Am pleasantly surprised that this thread has got so many posts!! It's good to know that people venture beyond the usual Hollywood fare. I've just realised that the idea for starting this thread came to me yesterday after watching PEDRO ALMODOVAR'S "BAD EDUCATION" (great movie) - and yet I forgot to give any of his films a name-check amongst my list of fave films!!! Now that I've realised the error of my ways, have to say that "WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN" is a great, great movie.
My favourite has got to be Memories of Murder (a Korean serial killer film based on a true story!). My friend lives in the town/area where all the murders took place - it was so eerie going there.
I highly recommend it but I don't know if the DVD is available here.
I also like Friend (another Korean gangster/coming-of-age movie) and City of God.
Hollywood films are so vanilla and predictable these days.
