Your fave FOREIGN LANGUAGE movie??

Me too..I refuse to watch dubbed films. Never understand why people have trouble following sub titles..after two minutes you don't even notice they are there.

You must get it..it is brilliant. I get alot of my Foreign dvd's off e-bay. You can't really go wrong and I always get the legit ones...but you can get some that are not released in this country but are in others, if you have multi region dvd of course.

It was written (and directed I believe) by Mathieu Kassovitz
who played Nino in 'Amelie.'

Talented guy as he is also a top model for Lancome!
 
Bumping this because I've just seen Bienvenue Chez Les Ch'tis and if anyone likes French cinema, this is an absolute must-see. I laughed until I cried. :D
 
Yeh, I kind of knew parts of the story but that ending shocked me.

Incredibly moving and some superb acting.

It inspired me to write a tribute poem called 'The Sun Still Shines'.

Not that I'll be publishing it here mind. :o

and a geman film I saw back in the 80's about young germans plotting to kill Hitler during the war, brilliant but can't remember what it was called.
 
Ah, i love foreign movies. Much better than some American ones they do these days, always happy endings, plots done before albeit with a "slight" difference, and just special effects. Disregarding anime here [like spirited away etc], my faves are -

#my sassy girl = korean film and is absolutely hilarious [i think the american version is due next year. not sure though]
#Raise the Red Lantern = chinese movie about this woman forced to be wit this rich guy who already has 3 wives. Its all about her fitting in and the need to be the favourite wife in order to survive.
#Paradise Now = about two brothers who are hired to be suicide bombers.
#The King of Masks = chinese. About this old man who can make these amazing masks and perform in them. Its a family secret and it can only be passed to a son. But the old man doesnt have a son. So its about him trying to find a son who he can pass the family secret.
# Joint Security Area = about the north and south korean dmz. touched me this film did.
# City of God = great movie

i have a few more but cant remember the english names for them.
 
I really want to see Pan's Labyrinth; I don't think there are any cinemas which show foreign films near me (I know someone who went to see it in Wolverhampton, but to me that's a long way just to see a film), so I'm waiting to buy it on DVD, it looks really good.
