X-Men 3

Well, I guess a lot of us are agreed that X3 is not as good as X2. But then X3 still gets a 7 or maybe an 8 out of 10 from me. The one thing that normal people (i.e. non-X-geeks) have said to me after seeing the movie is "why does that guy with wings get so much prominence in the poster when he's not in the movie for very long?" I've even seen one poster - or maybe something in a magazine, which showed him wearing a leather X-outfit, which I thought was verrrry misleading! Oh well, them's the breaks.

Hey - how's this for an idea - an X-Men PREquel movie? Go back to the days when Jean Grey and Cyclops and Beast first met. They might need to use clever software to de-age the characters (esp. Famke Janssen as she's getting on a bit - but still gorgeous) - but it's doable, right?

Oh, and this sad man has now bought the pizzas for mates to come round on Sunday to see X2 on DVD before heading out to see X3 at the cinema!

Sing after me peeps!

*Its the wonder, wonder, wonderful, magic ooooof WonderCon*

X‑Men 3: The Last Stand

Check out the posters

HERE

Yes, yes... they DO look good!

I still feel that we havent seen enough of the Xmen in general, the 1st one was very much like a "teaser" which was to lead onto alot more sequels... The 2nd started to establish the charactors and get the adventure moving.

The 3rd one almost ended everything, but as stated by patrick stewart before its either an ending or a beginning.

I too thought the posters were highly misleading especially since it was only storm/wolverine in the film well 70% of the screen time.

Theres plenty of other cool mutants/storylines that can be done.

Yes because Joss has had lesbians in all of his shows...

Wait, no, turns out it was just the one show. My mistake.

Anyway I have to say that I'd love to see Joss do X-Men 3, not just because I'm a huge fan of everything else he's done but because he is one of the few people who they could get who would actually add something to the franchise. See the way I figure it is that the worst case scenario is that Fox hire some director who is relatively unknown to direct and due to them pretty much doing whatever the studio wants the film just descenRAB to the level of the poorer comic book adaptions that have sprung up lately. See if Joss Whedon directs X-Men 3 it will be Joss Whedon's film rather than a film directed by some guy who has aspirations of being Bryan Singer but so clearly isn't.

* 'Enevitably'?

Unconfirmed rumour from SSH:

"Maggie Grace (Lost) is out as Kitty Pryde. The production team has just issued a casting notice for the role. Ratner and Co. are a smart bunch because they're using the script to The Astonishing X-Men comic-book as sides. Wanna know the irony? The comic-book is written by Joss Whedon, who every fanboy dreamed of having writing and directing X-Men 3."

Just started reading 'The Astonishing X-Men' actually. Great comic book. :)

Its looks like there will definatly be a X Men 3 film as Patrick Stewart has said recently that that X-Men 3 will go into production next June 2005 in Vancouver, however nobody knows which cast members will return since there is no script and director.
Joss Whedon is still rumoured as the director of X Men 3 however nothing has been confirmed. They do need to announce who the director is before the end of the year if they are starting production next year!

The Phoenix/Wolverine ending reminded me of the Xander Willow moment from the end of Buffy Season 6 - was it similar in the comics? If so Joss Whedon has nicked it!

Wish Phoenix could have stuck around - 'bout time we had a chick in charge ;) :p

I thought I'd wrap it up in a spoiler tag (even though someone above me has already mentioned it - but I don't want to ruin it for anyone in case they check this post without having read the few above it):

But I guess having the Prof say that Cyclops is dead doesn't mean that he is actually dead. I did think in the film that it was funny how no one seemed terribly stressed that they couldn't find him. They just picked Jean up and took her home - they didn't even look very hard for him, did they?

But they never found a body, did they? So if they needed to, they could always bring him back into X4 quite easily if they wanted one of the original characters. In the comics, Cyclops 'died' recently as well (having been disintegrated or something) by an evil mutant called Apocalypse, and a few months later they found him - so there would be a precedent for bringing him back as well as the professor.

In X4, I guess they could bring Angel into it a bit more. And now Iceman and Shadowcat have graduated up into being mainstream X-Men now. And as Halle Berry isn't in high demand as an actress, I'm sure she'd sign up for X4 too. So you'd have quite a lot of continuity from the previous films, even if you chose to introduce 2 or 3 more X characters.

Halle Berry has said that she would love to part out of X Men 3 because her character, Storm, has been given a stronger story line. "I love Storm," Berry said. "And it would be the last one, so I'd love to be a part of the end of the trilogy." So we maybe seeing in the third film!

Hmmm.... Could be interesting. Not least 'cos end of X3 implied the "cure" isn't as permanent as believed. So long as they don't rush it this time (the cause of all the failings of X3 IMO).

I heard that too, and I also heard that Charisma Carpenter and Sarah Michelle Geller (both from Buffy) were apparently fighting for the part...

Well I for one hope neither gets it and Joss DOESN'T direct Wonder Woman, because it's set to be a PHENOMENAL flop! Unlike Marvel properties, the DC characters are gonna be a lot harder to make cool and, well, accessible because they are all so overly cheezy, overpowered and unadaptable (at least given current audience attitudes)...

That's why I believe that Superman will not fair too well, it wont "flop" but look at the original movies, they were crap! People will go watch it, as they will Batman, more because of the impression we have they were really good, but look back at the last batman and superman films and not only did they flop but they were utterly horrendous films. A character like Superman is just so... 2 dimensional when compared to Marvel's main man Spidey. It's simply an inherent flaw with DC characters.

Anyway, erm, yeah, go X3!!!

Pesonally I'm hoping Fox go all out and do what Singer originally wanted to do, shoot 3 and 4 together a bit like Matrix Returns and Revolitions, but not that crap. The first could see Jeans reappearance and slow transofrmation into Phoenix, whilst the X Men deal with the Sentinels, and the second could be Hellfire club and ultimately Dark Phoenix...

I'm such a geek...
