It's selfish but I'm glad I'm not on the west coast of Florida... I'd be out of my fucking mind right now.

They did, and it was KNOWN to not be fully operational, as well as sub par construction

And it was Halliburton that told BP that displacing the mud before putting in the plug was a bad idea. BP did it anyway.

The mud was keeping the pressure of the oil from breaking through. The seawater it was replaced with, not so much.

reminds me of these hippies in college who were protesting building a power plant on campus. would have loved to see how they felt on a hot, humid day after a few weeks of no power for the AC in their dorms. and the result of their protests? the energy company just built a cheaper, dirtier plant off campus and the school had to pay more for power so tuition went up. liberals are the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.

I suppose we're pretty lucky that this didn't happen on the Tiber field. The Macondo Prospect only has about 50 million barrels worth of oil, so even if the BOP goes and the entire thing vacates, that's the cap.

The Deepwater Horizon discovered the Tiber field last September... 4-6 billion barrels.

lol no thank you, i will continue driving....you couldnt pay me to live close to where i work

Especially when they aren't even American companies and are drilling dozens of miles off our shores in the ocean.

That shit is terrible. Louisiana is going to be even more fucked than it already was for years to come.

Probably not, and he definitely gets blame too. Being too comfy with corporations and having lax oversight crosses party lines.

Let me rephrase it and say that risks can be minimized. We've minimized risks to make powered flight relatively safe, we've been to the moon and back, we can do it for off-shore drilling too if we have to. The point I was making is that the accident was caused by laziness and skimping on things so that more profit could be squeezed out.
