Wouldn't you use health care more if it was free?

If we went on a single payer health care system and the government was picking up the tab, would you use it more than you are now?

My point of this question is if we get our heath care taken care of, it would create a system of "recreational health care" in which people will take their kids in for every sniffle because it's free and they get free antibiotics. This clogs the system and stops people who really need health care from getting it.

So would you, or rather do you think the majority of the nation, use the free health care to it's full extent or would the country actually restrain itself and only use it in the most absolutely necessary instances?
Fred: Why would I need a lobotomy? It is a logical question, I don't trust the people of the US to not overuse free health care, do you? There's no need for hate

yes, I would go and get meds when I get sick and before I need a hospital that won't admit me anyway because of not having insurance.

As to the kids -- if you think taking asick child to the drs is recreation, you need to spend an hour or two of YOUR free time sitting in a pediatricians office. Those who overreact do so anyway, which is part of why health care costs have skyrocketed -- they get all these services and don't pay.

Nearly EVERYONE uses more of ANYTHING if they THINK it is free. The problem is it is NEVER free. Just because you pay in the form of taxes, instead of directly to the provider, you are STILL paying.

If you have ANY doubt people will use more when it APPEARS free, hang out at an emergency room for a few hours.
