Wouldn't you say that Traditional Feminism has been absorbed into American culture?

I say absorbed, because you can't tell our culture from the goals of traditional feminism these days.

Do you think the word Feminism has been hijacked?

Modern feminists often invoke the dictionary meaning in an argument, but how can we even tell anymore that it still applies to the current feminist special interest groups?
-Rio- hopefully you don't find this question to assume that I'm part of the latter of your reply.
 
If you look at the Vindication of the rights of women....Wollstonecraft wrote..this is considered the "first' piece of feminist literature..I'd argue that there are others older but this is defiantly the best know.

A lot of the issues she brought up in that text, are still here today.
She talks about the double standards of sexual expression between men and women, covers fathers needing to spend more time with their kids, the effect of parents raising there kids with gender standards, argues against false sensibilities and learning to think rationally..she even lectures on the vanity of the rich (is missing things I know)....Which are all problems that are still around and promoted by society.

Now some of the stuff she covered has been "absorbed" right to vote, coeducation/real degrees for women....but hardly all.

As Q&A proves that it hasnt been adsorbed at all...thanks i think.
 
Yes, the word "feminism" has been hijacked by two groups: some self-proclaimed feminists who don't care about equality, and non-feminists who think ALL self-proclaimed feminists don't care about equality.
