Would you pay $10 to get your phone from Verizon to Cricket EASY?

I understand your point, but I still don't agree...

Just because the people who post on here have the technology and knowhow to unlock their phone doesn't mean it is common knowledge. 90% of people out there DO NOT have the technical skills to unlock their phone. If it has been determined that the phone lock prevents someone from being able to activate their phone on another companies service, the major phone companies WILL be forced to give you your SPL code upon request... It may not be happening today, and it might not happen for a few months, but it will happen. In fact, the phone companies already know what's happening, and they'll give it to you if you have a good excuse already... I've gotten SPL codes from Cricket and sprint both by telling them I was hooking up my phone to the computer via a data cable and the software required it.

However, they may refuse to give it to you unless you're changing service, and that would be legitimate. As long as your phone is active on someone's network, they ought to be able to keep the code to keep you out of their programming. However, if I called sprint, with an inactive phone of theirs, and they refused to give me the lock code, they would certainly be in violation of this change in the rules.

I'd like to know how you think Verizon/Sprint,etc would win this in a court case? Sure, it probably wouldn't be worth suing them, because their attorneys would prolong it to the point where you could have bought 15,000 phones with what you paid your attorneys, but if this got before a judge, I see absolutely NO WAY they could win. The interpretation posted above says SPECIFICALLY that the primary function of the lock code is to keep you on their service, and that is against the rules...

Additionally, if you were suing sprint, and they were claiming they had "proprietary information" on the programming features which necessitated the lock code, you can/could easily shoot that down by simply pointing out that other carriers (verizon) don't lock their phones... If Verizon doesn't feel the need to lock phones, obviously there is no imperative need for it.

If you're taking them to court, you're obviously not using the software... if you have the software, there's no need to even argue with the phone company.. just do your stuff, and they have no recourse against you..

This is a moot point

verizon does not lock their phones. that is why the otasp programming works on it. the 650 should easily program. my 700w did.

if it doesnt work then u could buy the serial cable and load the prl manually. but that is kind of a hassle

The ruling only stated that the end-user can do whatever they want with the phone. Unlock, flash, download or whatever it is your choice.
OTOH the carrier can do whatever they want (IE LOCKs) when they own the hanRABet. They (Carriers) will continue to lock hanRABets as long as they subsidize them.

Well said. Not everyone wants to learn the inner workings of their phone. Most people dont. If you had no interest in spending days waiting for a cable, hours getting your phone to talk to your pc and the figuring out what else you need to do, wouldn't you want an instant solution?

As to community skepticism, so what. Does every new solution have to be hard? Are all methoRAB for everything discovered already?

And when data cables become free you can call the methoRAB described in various forums "free". As it stanRAB now they are not free.

Simple point... You can do whatever you want with your phone.. however, the software which we can use to unlock our phones is illegal for us to use...

It's a catch 22... if we can do whatever we want with the phone, we are absolutely entitled to the lock code...

Further, the ruling stated the primary purpose of the lock is to keep a customer on a specific network... in other worRAB, the primary purpose of the lock is in violation with the customers rights, hence the lock is in violation of the customers rights.

Wow. Verizon Tre 650 up and running on Cricket. As said above, changed prl and min with qpst software. Activated through cricket. *228, and "welcome to cricket". Thanks for the help. :clapping:

You're still missing the point.... MOST PEOPLE don't have the legal software (or any software at all), or the knowhow, and shouldn't have to pay someone to "Break" the lock....
