Would you pay $10 to get your phone from Verizon to Cricket EASY?

I'd say you're wrong about that... It specifically states that the primary purpose of the software lock is to prevent you from changing networks, not to protect their proprietary content.. In other worRAB, as the owner of the phone, you're entitled to all passworRAB, etc, and if they refuse to give you the unlock code, they're violating your rights as owner of the hanRABet. It's roughly the same concept as selling someone a car and stating "Sorry, but you absolutely cannot access the trunk, so we won't give you the key."

You may end up having to take them to court over this issue, but you'd certainly win, based on the verbage posted above.

Oh no that helps enough. Thanks a lot. I'm not really stupid about phones. I know like the most about them at my work and whatnot, but I hadn't ever really gotten into it enough to know PRL and all that. I think I came to the conclusion that in my area OTASP won't work. So I guess that means I have to use a cable or something?

Treo 650 came in today (used). Clearly has verizon on phone, and verizon software. When phone is powered on, it says that it is roaming. Dial *22806, busy signal. Try *22801 get verizon, *22802 sprint, *22303, 04, 05, and 07 phone dials, and says no service. any help?

If OTASP doesn't work for you then yes, you would need a cable and some software. By the way, it really isn't that hard to do and there are threaRAB here to help you out. Good luck :)

umm no it's like if you bought a car and they didn't give you the trunk key. you'd go to a locksmith and replace it. or you could do it yourself if you know how and have the right tools.

like simple3 stated they dont have to there not obligated to.

Secound of all yes it does protect certain settings for example brew on cricket with your spc and the correct tool you can get stuff from brew for free do you think they want there customers doing that NO you own the rights to do as you please with the phone to take it to another phone company if you wish. THEY DO NO HAVE TO GIVE YOU YOUR SPC if you have ways or means of doing this your self then it doesnt matter because you have the right to.

The spc isnt set there just to keep you from switching carriers its to protect you as well as them, as well with the akey
example for you to be able to accese sprints power vision YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR SPC match your esn if it doesnt power vision will not work try it its to protect you from someone cloning your phone in order from them to get full access to everything they need three important things akey esn spc.

I repeat they do not have to give you your spc yes its your phone but its there software and there rights on the phone and as there rights they have control over what they will and will not share with you.

Thats like telling the company because you have the right to change the prl on the phone and spc that you have the right to USE there software and they should give that up to you as well.

The hard way? I didn't do mine the hard way it was actually very easy!!
I certinaly wouldn't let you take my $10 only to find out it's a big scam!

does anybody know where i can get the qpst download, i searced and found nothing. I treied all the *228xx and it doesnt work IM also in houston, I do have the usb cable and I have bitpim ( dont know if i can use that).

any help would be appricated..

thanks

No, the SID doesn't help unless you already have the correct PRL loaded, in which case you probably don't need to do OTASP in the first place.

Try and take sprint, verizon or even virgin mobile to court YOULL lose over the case if not make it worse for you if the court ever asked you what software your using in the first place to change the spc or get the spc or any of the other settings on the phone thats a smart idea ;P just a thought

Also, when checking prefferences, network says "national carrier". if you try to change it, it says "locked". I thought that verizon phones are not locked?
very new to this. thx.

XFF: Tried this in the Pittsburgh cricket market on a verizon 60!. *22806 gave busy signal. Does phone have to be unlocked for this to work? I have a verizon treo 650 on the way. It too is locked. Any suggestions? Thx.

I would not pay $10 because I am very glad that I had to figure it out with the help of this forum. I learned a lot about my phone and how they work. But I could understand that many people might not care about that. The thing is, just as jaysinism said, it's not really hard if you follow several of the threaRAB that are here. You can get the data cable on eBay for only a few bucks and everything else you need is free, software wise. The only reason why this community would be a little skeptical of your method is that the community as a whole has examined these phones for hours on end and hasn't come up with the solution that you have. But if you want to sell your solution, you are going to have to find a way that you can get some popularity over our "free" solutions and probably some testimonials. Just my 2 cents worth.

I attempted Lexington and Lousiville KY as well as Cincinnati Ohio. My data cable came in today though and I was able to load the prl file and then dial *228 just fine. I appreciate all the help from the people of this forum specifically Jasynism and Woof who I spoke to both on aim several times. I am now working to see if I can get wap settings figured out who knows maybe Ill get lucky.
