...culture? Hello,
My name is Kelley. I am a seventeen year old filmmaker and art student living in North Carolina. Currently, I am writing a screenplay whose lead character is Korean. While ? ?? (a seventeen year old girl; her english name is Avi) lives in America, several of the scenes take place in Korea. However, I have only been learning to speak Korean for a few months, so as you would guess, it is very difficult for me to write scenes in Korean. Additionally, I do knot know very much about the culture of Korean daily life, especially for high school students.
I am looking for Korean writers who may be interested in collaborating (to whatever extent you are interested), or just Korean-speakers who may be interested in reading the script and giving feedback.
The premise of the film is as follows:
At the Age of seventeen, ? ?? (Avi Ju) is torn from Korea to return to America, where she spent her early childhood. An American to Koreans, and a Korean to Americans, Avi finds herself a foreigner in all lands, including the mysterious, shadowy gardens that seem to repeatedly haunt her nightmares.
Avi's inconvenient love of a long lost friend, her concern with her own immaculate beauty, and the deterioration of her mind threaten to push her across the brink of insanity. When she finds she can no longer depend on her closest friend, Avi realizes that no one is going to save her- she has to save herself.
Thank you,
-kelley katz
