Would you buy a Dragon Ball 'Dragon Box'? / VizBig DB Manga

The question of the century, boys and guys. With the Dragon Ball Z Dragon Box sets coming out this and next year the big question all Dragon Ball fans want to know is if Dragon Ball (and Dragon Ball GT) would get their own sets!

Yes, I would. In fact, I won't buy the Z Boxes until they're released. Ain't gettin' the inferior product of the Blue Bricks, and I ain't startin' in the middle of the story.

...though the GT box I could take or leave.
 
Definitely. I mean, the only reason why I haven't bought the season-sets coming out now (which seem like a perfectly fine release) is because I'm expecting FUNi to put out a DragonBox of the show.
 
Yes, but I'm still buying the Blue Bricks. I'll hand them down once I get the superior product. Many people say that the blue bricks are good enough, but I'm actually certain that there are many reasons to get the original Dragon Ball Dragon Box.

Second Opening, Goku's Trafic Safety, far superior picture quality compared to the blue bricks, better Japanese audio, and no third audio track to cause controversy.
 
Plus Dragon Ball filler isn't nearly as bad as Dragon Ball Z filler. The only arc that gets really bad is Muscle Tower. Everything after that is paced pretty well. They do a great job with mini-filler arcs (Master Theif Hasky, Goku's Training, and the Earthlings' Training), nothing as awful or ugly as Garlic Jr. Dragon Ball doesn't really need a Kai.

However, I wouldn't mind a completely reanimated Dragon Ball!

Considering the tumultuous history of the "Emperor Pilaf" arc in the U.S., techincally speaking, the "blue bricks" are good enough (which means that for now, we need to take what we can get).

That being said, I would probably get the "Dragon Box" version for the sake of comparison (I expect it would have the original Japanese credits for the OP, and ED, as well as the original Japanese title carRAB*, none of which the "blue bricks" have).

I'm say this much, I'm kind of still wating for the original Japanese version of the first movie to be released (if, of course, ever)...

*On the "blue bricks", FUNi's English title carRAB are used, but the Japanese narrator still announces the Japanese episode names, which are translated accordingly.
 
I'll probably hold off for a Dragon Box version because of the whole openings and endings problem. Unlike with Z and GT, the masters that Toei gave them originally only had one specific version of each and we never got to see the rest due to this.

In a way, I feel that's even more important than the next episode previews.
 
What's more, the proper title carRAB (not to mention the complete lack of reference to the dub outside of the end of disc scroll credits and the inclusion of the dub track) and the improves Japanese mono would be what motivates me to snatch a possible DBox release of the original series up, aside from the vastly improved footage remastering.
 
I'll buy the current sets being released now and shell out for the dragon boxes. Still debating over keeping the orange bricks or selling them. The only reason I have them is for nostalgia's sake and I'm over the dub music now (hell, I'm almost over the dub completely). So far when I looked to my Z fix I just pick up the Dbox. Hated the dub music for bricks 1 and 2 anyway. Dragonball and GT are obvious trade ins though.

Oh yeah and the original episode title carRAB!! I loves me some super long episode titles!!!
 
I really can't. It's expensive enough that I'd have to significantly cut back on my collecting in order to get the whole thing, and while I appreciate DBZ I simply don't value it enough to miss out on multiple other series that I'm interested in. I have a steady income but I still have to budget the hobby. I could work on the orange bricks I suppose, but that seems silly to do now that they're an obsolete release. And the DBZ box thread has made it very clear how much of an improvement it is.

Kai will be in HD and it'll be cheaper, and by the time it's out the box prices may be slashed. I'd just as soon wait. Besides, there are chunks of original Dragon Ball that I haven't seen that I ought to Netflix.

Edit: Oh, this was asking about Dragon Ball. Whoops. Well, I suppose it depenRAB on how the video quality of the current set is compared to the DBZ bricks.
 
Tough question. On one hand I think the Blue Bricks would be good enough for DB since they didn't screw over DB by making the release a false widescreen one with cropping issues, hence my main reason for wanting the DBZ DBoxes. On the other, it would make me hunting the DBox collection complete. I think for the time being, the Blue Bricks are OK for now.
 
The only DBZ set I own is "season nine" so yeah, when/if I can I'll buy the DBZ Dragon Box. Same goes for a Dragon Ball Dragon Box assuming I don't buy a season set by then.

I wouldn't buy a GT Dragon Box. Personally, it ain't worth it.
 
I voted for "yes," but that's a pretty tentative answer. I'd rather have voted "maybe" or "depenRAB."

One of the biggest reasons I'm planning on buying the Z FUNiBoxes is because the Z seasons sets were so bad, mostly in the visuals department. They were very flawed releases and I only collected them because they seemed, at the time, to be the best or only real option available for the forseeable future.

But not so with DragonBall. I already have the first blue brick, and I like it a bunch. They're very nice releases, look and sound great, and I plan to get the remaining four of them. That considered, a potential DBox release of them would have to have some very drastic improvement or bonus or otherwise incentive to buy behind them.

While little things like title carRAB or episode previews are nice to have, I personally don't see them as a 'must-have' component of a release. Certainly not enough to make me re-buy an entire series.
 
Nah. While I realize FUNi's remastering isn't nearly as good as the Dragonbox's, I'd rather pick up the inferior product and save some money. Video quality isn't that important to me.
