Would this be offensive to aboriginal culture?

I wanted to use part of Aboriginal folklore in a game I am designing. I was going to call a legendary snakelike creature in it 'wagyl' or 'waargl' or a similar variation, but I'm not sure taking this name, which is a noongar one for the rainbow serpent would be offensive to them or not.
It's not really the rainbow serpent, just using a similar name. And to be honest, people use creatures from most mythologies and religions all the time (supernatural anyone?). I was just wondering if Aborigines were more picky.
 
I suggest you create a word for it on your own. Many writers not only create their own characters and stories but some create their own creatures as well. Many take from mythology, that's true but some do create their own. Many people playing your game probably wouldn't know what a wagy or waargl was until you gave a description. So maybe you can use sparach, or drisoshi. Two made up words off the top of my head!

Consider this, if you were a Christian and someone did the same thing using your "God" or Jesus would you not be offended ??? If you were a Muslim and someone used Allah in a game would you not be offended ???
The answer is most definitely yes, create something original and leave the Rainbow Serpent out of it...
