I am 5'11 185lbs it will be my first bike I was looking at getting a honda rebel 250 but i am starting to think it will be too small for me and not enough power since i will definitely be making a view road trips with the bike. My dad has a vulcan 500cc and it seems to be a good bike and my father in law has a honda shadow 650 it also seems like a good bike . i need some advice on what to get. i definitly want a cruiser and i will be riding 2 up about 1/3 of the time

I am 5'11" and 200 lbs and a 1995 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 was my first bike.
It was the perfect size for me and a great beginner bike.

Any Honda Shadow, Kawasaki Vulcan, Honda Sabre or Harley Sportster should be fine.

Both the Shadow 600 and the Vulcan 500 are solid bikes that will do what you want, but I suspect you may want a little more displacement.
You might take a look at one of the 800cc Vulcans.

My friend has a Vulcan Nomad. He loves it. I have never ridden it, but the bike looks really good. It has been 100% reliable for nearly 30,000 miles. It's a big beast of a bike, but he had it since he has a new rider with no problems. He says it's really easy to ride. It's never been down, so I have no reason to doubt him.
