Would it be too weird...?

I'm writing a novel. My main character is a ten-year-old girl living in the Victorian era in Netherlands. She calls her mother "Maudie". She calls her father "Poppie". Are these too weird? Be honest. Thank you.

It's not that it's weird, it's that you would need to research the appropriate wording used in the Netherlands by Victorian girls when addressing their parents. My instinct is that it would be much more formal than the names you are suggesting.

You might try posting a question under the languages category and asking people in the Netherlands their opionion.

no. if thats the wat that youe character talks then ok. it gives tthe reader somthing to know about the chaaracter. more charaterzion the better and the easier for the reader to vizulize the charcter
