"Worst Movie Ever!!"

On the IMDB message boarRAB, why is there always a post that says "The worst movie ever"? No matter what the film is, or how good it is, there is aways a post that says that.

Trolls swarm that site anyways, I'm a member of it and it's so annoying. There will always be someone creating a thread knowing it's going against the tide.

Yes, they are an...interesting bunch over there, to say the least.

Another common post is '100 things I learned from this movie', and then go on to list loaRAB of 'mistakes' and 'inconsistencies' about the film.

There is not a lot of tolerance and understanding on there, it has to be said.

Then there's the perv who pretenRAB to be a responsible father and asks how much sex is in the film, because he's not sure whether to sit and watch it with his non-existenent son/daughter.

I thought this was confirmation OF the worst ever

Two movies I really didnt enjoy, and which I thought were VASTLY overrated

Death in Venice

Prizzi's Honour

There is no such thing as 'confirmation' of the worst movie ever. It's all down to personal opinion.

You will notice that it is always the most critically-lauded, popular and financially successful movies that get these comments...never the really, truly awful movies that most of these people will never see and will never hear of.

But the sort of people who use that phrase do tend to be vastly over-opinionated and ignorant in their responses.

They will never make it clear they are stating a personal opinion, they will state it as though it is a fact.

I never really understand why not liking a movie has to translate to the 'worst movie ever' Truth is a lot of it comes down to their expectations of what they think the movie should be.

They read and believe the publicity that praises the movie to the hilt, and end up very disappointed. And not because it is a bad movie, but because it does not (and indeed could not) meet such lofty expectations.

And sometimes you can even see it coming...with posts on here saying 'The trailer for X looks awesome!', and 'OMG, I can't wait for X!.'

Most of us are savvy enough not to believe what we read and hear, and tailor our expectations accordingly.

I think a lot of it is borne out of a sense of inferiority. If I watch a movie and don't like it, even if it is a popular, very successful movie I never feel the need to post derisory, mocking comments about what on earth people see in it etc. I may indeed give my opinion, but it will be a considered one.

But a lot of people actually think that inwardly there is something wrong with them for not 'getting it', when everyone else did. And they feel the need to kick against it, to defend themselves against what they percieve to be a feeling of being made to feel like an outsider, of being apart from the crowd.

Well, my five on Livingsocial were:

1. Narnia (since replaced with Thomas & the Magic Railroad)
2. High School Musical 2
3. Super Mario Bros (what were they on when they made it?)
4. Batman & Robin (a Bat-Credit Card!!!!????!!!!??!?)
5. Brokedown Palace (No ninjas, no Chuck Norris, no fiery explosions, and the ending is like beating the world 8 castle only for "Thank you Mario, but the Princess is in another castle!", the bad guy doesn't get killed in an fiery explosion-related way. It's even worse than that version of Titanic with the rapping dog! Seriously, the directors should have just seen it was a lost cause and invoked Godwin's law. With the help of an explosion.)

Lol, thats true.

Its subjective of course, but the worst movies ever for me were.

Hulk (the first one not the more recent). Nothing happened for hours, everyone in it looked bored and I fell asleep.

Solaris with George Clooney. Not even George could rescue that mess. What the heck was all that about anyway?

Just a thought - It could just be that the person writing the thread really doesnt like that particular movie regardless of how much fanwank it gets.

Two films that would make it into my top 20 worst movies are TDK and Pulp Fiction.
