Worst mother in animation... no poll.

I still think that Butters' mom was worse, not only for the episode itself where she suffered a mental breakdown and tried to kill her son, but because she treats her son the same way the dad does as far as punishing him goes, even going as far as allowing it.

I agree with everyone who says you're crazy for saying Chi-Chi is a bad mother. I mean, come on, would you want your kid to go fight monsters like Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu? These guys kill millions of people and blow up planets just for fun. I can't blame her for being a little protective of her kids when it comes to something like that.

I just thought of another one: Momiji's mother from Fruits Basket who rejected her child (going as far as calling him a "thing" that she wished "never came out of her") when she found out he carried the zodiac curse. Real loving mom there, huh?

Mindy's Mother from Animaniacs. There's nothing responsible about her. She leaves her kid unattended leaving the poor dog (Buttons) to risk everything to keep Mindy alive. Then what does she do? At the end of every episode, she yells at Buttons for no good reason and leaves him completely dejected.

Mindy doesn't even seem to recognize her as a Mom. She simply refers to her as "Lady".

Honestly, to me. that's hard to beat.:ack:

Butter's mom
- Seriously, she has serious problems with anger. And not to mention that she tired to kill butters, it makes me feel sorry for Butters to have parents like this.

Kyle's mom- Why the heck has nobody even MENTIONED her in here? Doesnt anyone at least remember all the stuff she's done to annoy the heck out anyone? She in my own view, makes the godawful soccer mom look like a hero!

Robotnik's Mama- Tsk tsk rabroad users for not even mentioning this one. Mama Robotnik was basically the dragon lady of all mothers, not to mention Robotnik himself is terrified of her.

Pretty much agree what everyone has to say about Lois and the other mother though.

Exactly what I would have said. In addition, I'll agree the Other Mother from Coraline is a terrible mother, but I guess she isn't really Coraline's mother. Another one is a character I don't think even spoke: Harry Osborn's mother from The Spectacular Spider-Man. Norman is bullying her son, and she just keeps eating dinner.

Just being annoying doesn't make someone a bad parent. Sheila Broflosky is reactionary and she takes it too far, but it's always for the good of her family and the community. As for as I know, no one in Sheila's family has ever had to suffer as a direct result of Sheila's actions, except for Kyle having to be taunted mercilessly by Cartman, but he would be doing that anyway.

Also, I could kick myself for forgetting about Mom from Futurama. An evil, heartless tycoon bent on planetary domination ranks pretty high on the bad mothers category!

Shinsen Tennozu, Kagura's mother from Speed Grapher.

Hates her daughter's guts for her youth and beauty, deliberately starves her and allows her to be used as the star attraction in her hubby's club for the depraved, perverted elite.

After one of Kagura's teachers promises to talk to her mother about her messed-up life, she comes home and accidentally walks in on the two of them having sex in HER bedroom. (This isn't an all-ages show, by the way. This teacher is a woman.)

I feel like I want to defend Lois. Yes, she treated Meg, badly. But, that's when it was cool to do that, Back then, did did it less, than the rest. And she's still more sane that others, especially her husband.

Was there ever a GOOD parent in South Park? Remember, this shows derails ALL adults.

And is "Mom" from Futurama an actual mother, or is it just a gig?

You know, Chi-Chi from Dragonball Z being an actual mother is probably the reason why many fans hate her.

"D**m it, Chi-Chi! Just let your son save the day, so you can be alive for tomorrow!"

This may also be why Mangakas don't bother with parents in manga. Actual, full, fledged parents are considered boring and don't sell well.

Also, writers hardly know about parenting themselves.

And seriously, not many adults wanted kids in the first place.

Oops, I completely missed it.

Eustace's mother from Courage the Cowardly Dog was very mean with Eustace (and probably Muriel too), but unlike her son, she actually liked Courage. Later on she became evil all the way.

She has 3 sons (Walt, Larry and Ignar) who also act as her lackeys, so no, Mom isn't just a company name.

Fictional, super powered or not, I still fail to see how it's a bad thing for a mother to not want her child to jump head first into life-threatening danger and to want him to have a good education and be successful.

It's an old cliched phrase, but "when you have kids of your own, you'll understand." ;)

Yeah but all of Demona's kids are way too well adjusted, granted that's mostly due to her having no idea they even existed. If we want to compete with the likes of Norman Osborn, Fire Lord Ozai or Darkseid, we need to find someone who has thoroughly effed up their offspring.

Like someone else said, just because she the 'best' of the family when it comes to treating Meg badly, doesn't make her a good parent.

Plus in one episode she tried to sleep with Meg's boyfriend. That's a pretty bad mom. She used to be a good parent though.

I can't believe people are even considering Chi-Chi as a bad mother. If not wanting your 5-year-old to go to a life-threatening battle makes a bad parent then honestly who ISN'T a bad parent. We're talking bad mothers here, not "mothers who won't let their children do whatever the hell they want".

As for Cow & Chicken, that show is so wacky and out there that stupid, crazy parents feels normal for it.

Typical C&C plot:

Mom: Dad, look, the circus is in town!
Dad: Kids! Do you want to run away and join the circus!
Chicken: What?
Cow: But we don't want to join the circus...
(Abrupt cut to C&C being kicked out of the car in front of a circus tent)

Timmy Turner's mom is pretty bad. Although she's not as bad as her husband, she's definitely neglectful of Timmy. I understand an upcoming episode that
[
]Wanda is supposed to have Timmy swap brains with his Mom to teach him a mother's life is not easy[
] , this episode's point would not be as hard to swallow if Mrs. Turner had actually ACTED like a Mom.

how could people think chi chis's bad mom and charette pickles a good mom
sure all the other moms on rugrats or obvillous but at least they try to spend time with their kids
say what you will about drew but at least he spends time with Angelicla

I never said that Charlotte was a model mom, just that I don't think that she ranks among the worst. Blackstar elaborated on this: if Charlotte had remained the neglectful, typically absent workaholic that she was when the series started, then I'd say she's deserving of the dishonor of being mentioned in this thread, but as the seasons progressed she did occasionally put down the cellphone and actually attempt to do some parenting. By the end of the series, Charlotte wasn't any worse than the other parents on the show. In "The Unfair Pair", Charlotte even engaged in a human conversation with Betty DeVille about sweaters. A far cry from the uncaring workhorse she was portrayed as in the beginning.
