Worst kind of music?

I like how you think. I hadn't posted on this thread thinking it was too negative. Couples of years back I would have said "RAP AND POP STINK!" but I've come to realise that if I didn't get into rap was mostly because as a middle class white girl with a Scandinavian background, the MTVesque genre of rap wasn't quite presenting realities I could associate with, I still don't listen to it, but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate its artistic merit. As for pop, I've managed to reduce my hatred of it according to individual vocalists who can't be bothered to learn an instrument, all sound the same and don't even write their own songs.

Spose thats fair enough. but rock has tune and a rythm and you can sing along to it. Rap is kinda hard to get into. you either love it or hate it i think.

The worst for me is Black Metal and Thrash Metal.
Basically, if I can't understand the lyrics and sing along to it, I don't like it.

A question re. Johnny Cash - if "Walk The Line" had not been made, do you really think his resurgence in popularity would have taken place??

there is still a lot of good music out there, and i can agree that some music out there is terrible, (hence amy winehouse), but like MTV these days just play the terrible music like someone said "gansta" rap which im really not fond of at all but there is still music out there with meaning

Nope, its just a subjective opinion. Not considering something the worst based on something like accomplishments would be a rather closed minded way to view it though. It doesn't matter what it has accomplished, if someone subjectively considers something subjective the worst based on subjective criteria than that is subjectively the worst to them.

Well, saying that you hate country music with a passion (which implies all, since there is no word before 'country')
And then saying that you love Cash, is quite contradictory

This is a horrible thread.

It might as well be called the "write off all the genres of music you don't listen to" thread.

Classical takes talent, country takes talent, opera takes major talent....

Emo? its like diet punk, same lyrics, same chorRAB, same whiny voices with petty problems, no thanks

I wouldn't put Amy Winehouse in the "terrible" music category.

And I see MTV starting to change with that whole FNMTV thing. You're seeing more and more Indie banRAB (though, not all of them anything special) getting exposure. Subterranean on MTV2 is moving from it's 1am time slot on Sunday nights to 11pm on Saturday nights. I think, his is all making room for a more diverse and interesting music selection on MTV. We'll see...

well in the case what where would be be without it... lets take time to thank indians.. they did there own type of singing around camp fires and what not.. i'm sure you all know what i'm saying.. but i don't think anyone can really say what old stuff really started off the musical worlRAB.. because folk i'm willing to bet goes back alot futher then classical ever did.. i mean look at how amazing all those instruments were that were involed in classical instrument.. when music started before any instrument, then one came along.. then another so on and so on.. i mean i believe real music started long before classical, and so its not really classical we should be thanking.. no one can really tell what musical area we should be thanking..

Hypocrisy owns. You cant lecture me on ignoring parts of your post when you did the very same to me. And Im fairly certain the point of a forum is NOT to argue with every post imaginable.

Go for it. Im fed up of him to be honest, but seeing as everyone else loves him Ill have to just cope with this.
