World Wrestling Entertainment Discussion X (Spoilers)

Sometimes iMPACT has only about 10 minutes wrestling on a two hour show which is a damn shame because as was shown in certain matches at Bound For Glory (how good was the Motor City Machine Guns match?) the talent is there. And yeah I know Raw is just as bad for it some weeks.

I agree that WWE has no choice but to push the younger guys but the problem is with so much top talent being absent at the same time they've had to rush people into main event spots and only Wade Barrett - and Sheamus, although his push did begin a while ago - look to have any longevity in the roles

Not a great Raw last night. Apart from the continuation of Barrett/Cena, I couldn't get into anything else on the show.
That WWE package thing was just awful. Why is Hornswaggle still there? Nice to see Ezekiel Jackson back, but could that return have been any weaker?

The build-up of the smackdown guys arriving wasn't very well hyped and the whole feud/brawl didn't really give me the temptation of buying the ppv (thank god it's on SS).

I still feel JR is incredibly missed on Raw. He really is a missing factor for me.

Was happy with the build-up of Nexus/Cena, but this should of been more Orton/Barrett, considering this was the final Raw before the ppv. This is why they shouldn't have too many ppvs, it's ridiculous.

What the hell did they do to Danielson last night!? Was it really necessary to have that dance afterwarRAB, really!?
What a mess that was. What was the point in the divas? They throw glitter? Why? What about some good old fashioned Godwinn slop. :D

Nice bucket throw from Gail Kim btw :p

When will Ryder get a push? :( Doesn't seem likely.

Let's hope for an improvement next week. But I'm not holding my breath.

Shawn Michaels got into wrestling at a time when people knew how to wrestle. It's like Bobby Heenan said, they retarded their own business by trying to get as many young guys in as they could. People stomping when they punch and kick, their not teaching young athletes how to wrestle properly. Shawn Michaels got into wrestling at a time when wrestlers actually made it look real. Shawn Michaels went out and wrestled proper matches every night against guys who had worked in many promotions, many different styles, they didn't just suit Shawn Michaels style. The business has changed. To be a wrestler you don't need to know how to wrestle properly, you just need to know how to get from A to B in less than 10 minutes if it's a TV match. You don't need to learn to talk because someone will tell you what to say. The arena is covered in HD cameras so you don't need to worry about looking in a certain direction or try and have some connection with the viewers at home.

The sad thing is when Shawn came back it wasn't long before he fell into that comfort zone. Churning out the same match week in and week out because that is all he needed to do. He was really a special attraction but the real Shawn Michaels was the one in the 90's. Kinda said that in 2010 there he was still working away, doing the same old stuff but that is just how the business is. Most wrestlers don't know anything else. They can't do anything else. It's sad to see.

As for Randy Orton, he won his first championship in 2004. Why should i see him still going for the title 11 years later? I like Randy Orton. Not too keen on the facial expressions or again.....the same recycled match each week but he is interesting enough. He will do for now until someone steps their game up and i've no doubt WWE will have him in main events for a long time to come. I'm not sure who that person will be. Even MVP is dropping hints about wanting to leave WWE and i had him down as a future star in the company. Santino is another one who is very underused.

I'm not sure I agree with that, because nostalgia can be a very marketable thing. If they were to suddenly bring back swearing, bra & panties, the old RAW song, blood, J.R. and heel Lawler, I'm almost certain that a huge number of Attitude Era fans would suddenly tune in - for at least a few shows - to see if they like wrestling again.

Granted, in reality it wouldn't be feasible because 1. the majority of shocked parents would suddenly tune out and stop attending shows; 2. the aforementioned Attitude Era fans may not stick with it once the nostalgia wears off (especially from the absence of Austin and Rock); 3. sponsors and investors would pull out in droves.

What I'm saying is that whilst a return to TV14 isn't feasible, the ratings would still spike again as a result of all the old fans tuning back in to see what's going on. Since none of the above are realistic options, we can only perservere and see how the next 'boom' takes shape. Right now, however, I really can't see how they intend to boost ratings long-term.

There's no revolutionary change in sight that is on the level of Hogan in the '80s and Austin in the '90s. The kiddies who are growing up idolising Cena will eventually get bored of the Superman act just like what happened with Hogan nearly 20 years ago. Then what? Besides him, there aren't currently any other Hogan/Austin/Rock-esque names who transcend the business and are household names. None are in sight, either.

And obviously they can't rely on another star to emerge who harks back to the Attitude Era by being a badass or delivering killer promos, because it's all been done before. Austin pioneered the role of a rebellious thug, whilst Rock was the athletic wiseguy with such cool things to say that every kiddie and adult worldwide were repeating his promos verbatim. What else new and fresh is there left to do?

Hopefully the aftermath RKO by Orton on Cena will lead somewhere......Cena has done in his mind "the right thing" for himself and also Orton(retains title), but still Orton RKO's him. Cena could start thinking "what's the point of doing the right thing?" and start living the nexus way.

Obvious Otunga and Barrett tension increase in nexus now due to Otunga having a title and Barrett not. Otunga will wind Barrett up and challenge his leadership.

Will nexus attacking Taker be explained?

Yeah Russo in WCW for the later years of the company, big Success??????

WCW dies due to 2 factors. 1) Time warner deal with AOL. 2)Too many inmates running the company.

WWE has one guy who runs everything.....Vince
WCW has bish,hogan,nash,russo,segal,harvey among others
TNA has Dixie,Russo,Bish,Hogan and Jarrett

Russo always had to get approval from vinnie mac but it wasn't just him writing shows, most of raw in 1998 onwarRAB in the TV wars was changed as the show went on. However i like russo's ideas in WCW/TNA.

If people dont like wwe because its aimed at kiRAB now then stop watching or watch tna which is TV14.

Every company has problems...I'm a Fanboy at heart but still watch TNA because i'd love to see them compete with WWE as its good for business. Just dont like fanboys who are 1 dimensional

I read that today after spotting her being missing from the WWE roster list on Wiki, so I guess they can't have seen much in her either.

Should have checked before posting my prediction about her returning as a ring announcer next year. Doh!

I make you right on that. We'll continue to get NXT in its current timeslot between now and the conclusion of Season Three, and if that proves to be the final season of NXT then I guess it'll be replaced by some filler like re-runs of Vintage Collection etc.

Then, when Tough Enough launches in the States, it'll probably get that slot or a similar one that accommodates non-main line WWE programming at the moment.

Yes, Tyler Black would be nailed on for a Season Four if they were planning to do one, and from what I've seen of FCW there's a few second generation guys who have been in there for a while and are ready to step up - Brett DiBiase, Bo Rotundo, Richie Steamboat etc. The current FCW Champion, Welshman Mason Ryan, would be a good shout for NXT as well.

But judging by some of the guys who filled out NXT Season Two (Eli Cottonwood and Titus O'Neill were patently not ready to go onto TV, for example), I think they'd struggle for depth - they had a great eight man line-up for Season One, but the majority of those guys were people who'd been in developmental for over a year who were itching for an opportunity to move up. That doesn't seem to be the case now.

If NXT is ending then I'm glad in many ways. The WWE roster is bloated at the moment - just look at how many midcard singles heels there are on SmackDown doing nothing - so doesn't need any further new superstars, and you can have too much of a good thing.

NXT Season One was some of the best TV they've produced in a long while IMO but the format was beginning to lose mileage by the end of Season Two. To give it an extended rest will do it good if they eventually decide to bring it back (Vince is said to be keen on it) some time down the road.

Yeah but WWE.Com is not PG. Neither is the WWE Universe forum they can chat about anything.. WWEKiRAB is the kiRAB playground so it is PG on a whole there.

You're talking about that like it was 20 years ago.

The Hart Dynasty vs. The Usos was not a good feud, because nobody cared about either team. Nobody has cared about any team in WWE since The Miz and John Morrison, by my recollection.

Please show me the great depth in the tag division two months ago, outside of the two teams you've already mentioned.

from interviews ive read he wants to come back but knows its a non starter now

rock wont wrestle again,id lvoe to see it but wont happen, still waiting for guest host raw though,i think that could happen, thats one raw i would watch!!!(fast fwd the actual wrestling of course lol)

When someone wins the WWE title you don't feel as if they have actually earned it or been through a war to get it. It just feels like a regular match that would easily slot into one of the tv shows. But i suppose the novelty is seeing a new champion and again that is part of the WWE experience i was talking about earlier. Becoming the world champ just seems to be another part of the show. Like a bonus for winning the match. Those belts should be the number 1 thing every wrestler wants! If they wanna put the title on the same people all the time then fine but at least make us care about it. Sheamus was the first time i cared about a WWE champion in a long time because he looks the part, talks the part and he is believable.

You will notice that the hole is built on a platform. There is a trap door at the bottom of the hole they slip through to be underneath the platform. You will also notice they don't have the camera viewing inside the hole while it is being filled. That way people are lead to think whoever is in the hole has been buried

or watch this

I agree that if they went back to the attitude era a lot more people would tune back in. I know a lot of people who used to watch back in 99-00 era who simply stopped watching when it became more family friendly.

I know. But does he then relay that info - in this case, taking it home - to the guys in the ring, or are they somehow 'in the know' or have a sixth sense about these things? (Especially the veterans.)
