Just seen that the Buffy Creator is to Direct the movie Wonderwoman. Any Suggestions as to who will get the part?

I Think;
Rachel Bilson (Summer in the OC who has already shown she suits the costume)
Sarah Michelle Gellar (JUst because she ws in Buffy)
Jennifer Garner (Used to Super Hero Role)
Eliza Dushku(Also in Buffy and linked to Black Cat in Spiderman so Role would Suit her)
Halle Berry (LOL)(She has shown she can carry off super hero roles)

She's rumoured to be in the next one, eliza would suit her perfectly.

As for wonder woman, joss has already said that nobody from the buffyverse will play her. I wouldn't mind seeing blisson trying it, she looks the part, but i've only seen her in the o.c. so i've no idea what her acting abilities are really like.

There was a rumour ages ago that the big woman wrestler (China?) was going to be playing Wonderwoman

Jennifer Aniston was rumoured

Was chatting to a mate about the wrestler adn she has made a porno and has turned to drink (apparently) so dont think they will cast her as wonderwoman lol

So many people have been rumoured for this part. Originally JW apparently said that he would love Sarah Michelle Gellar for this role, and if not her then Charisma Carpenter. Apparently since then the studio has said 'no' to the Buffy/Angel stars and Jennifer Garner and Jessica Beil were both rumoured.

To be honest I think that they should leave the making of this movie. They have proved without a shadow of a doubt that making movies of the female super-hero is a big mistake (Elektra, Catwoman and just because it's currently in my head, Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl).

Currently I believe that making a movie of such a comic would be a mistake, but then there have been few successful comic to screen transitions.

Dale Winton get my vote. Its gonna be camp anyway so Dale is best. Or what about Christopher Biggins or Paul OGrady.
Another crappy kiRAB TV classic movie flop on its way whatever!

Joss Whedon has been talking about taking the Wonder Woman film:

"Originally, I was hesitant," he said "But then it's also sort of why I became really interested, because she doesn't have so much baggage for me, the way, say, Spider-Man would."

"It's been in development for a lot of years. Producer Joel Silver called me, and I came in. When he pitched it, he had a very clear idea of what he wanted to do, which I thought was really smart," Whedon said. "But it was very unformed, and it sort of formed in my brain.
"What I began to realize is I had no choice but to write it," he said. "I mean, I've seen some really good books, some really great work by people — late-'80s artist/writer George Perez and late-'90s artist/writer John Byrne, a lot of guys," Whedon said. "Obviously, I've seen the covers by female superhero artist Adam Hughes, but who hasn't? However, I've seen her more with the Justice League of America and stuff like that."

When asked if he plans to incorporate important parts of the Wonder Woman legend in the film, Whedon did mention that he's going to be very picky when choosing what to use and what to ignore.
"I have a take on all of them," he said. "It has to do with who she is, and they have a certain integrity. I'm not going to do anything silly."

Producer Joel Silver has been talking about Wonder Woman as a series of films: “Wonder Woman however is a different story - it's aiming to be a franchise from the start it seems. Silver confirmed "I made Joss' deal, Joss Whedon is writing the script. He's finishing Serenity when that movie is done, he's going to turn his attention toward the script. He's got fantastic ideas."

So how did the idea come about? "When we made the first Matrix, I came out of the first test screening, the numbers for Trinity were so much higher than anything else in the movie, people loved that character. I came out of there and said to the studio this is interesting, I said to the boys why don't we make a Trinity movie, they said no they had something else in mind. So I figured we should take something, this was in 99, take Wonder Woman and try something and they said fine. I never really felt I got it till now."

Is he daunted by the way that female action hero franchises haven't been as popular as studios have hoped? No it seems. "They were terrible movies. That's my opinion, I think this is a big constructionist picture, it's property of Warner Bros', the character is the real deal, and if we do it right. Joss has a fantastic take on the story, and if it works the way I think it's going to work, it's going to be fantastic" says Silver.

Just to be clear, casting hasn't been started yet. The script isn't actually written yet, either: only an outline has been written for Joel.

After Serenity is out of post, a script is going to be wrote in draft, and THEN casting will begin. Any rumours you hear are simply made up.

W.W. is not going to be a movie for a star. It's a movie with a story, which an actress plays a part in.

And no: nobody from the Buffyverse will be cast in the role.

Joss Whedon has been talking about the script for Wonder Woman recently "I think [the script will] be done in a few months' time, and then I give it to the studio and they'll say, 'Boy, is it not done!' So, you know, it's a process. It should take some time, but I'm well into it, and I'm having the time of my life."

He also said that his film version will be a origin story like Batman Begins "What's exciting is, like, Batman Begins basically really did a wonderful job explaining exactly why he was a bat and why he had everything on his costume that he did. That's the joy of doing an origin story of Wonder Woman. Why does she wear the bracelets? Why does she use the lasso? Like, ... where does all that stuff come from? ... And I have answers for all of that, and it's really fun. So it's not a reinvention like, 'Oh, she's going to dress like Trinity.'" He also said "I want to see Wonder Woman as I know her and see her, [and] not ... [just her] star-spangled panties. But she wears the Wonder Woman outfit, and she has the bracelets and all the accoutrements. ... The lasso and, if I can make it work for the plot, the invisible plane. I have a take on it that I think is cool. It's just I'm structuring the plot, and I've got to find a place for it. But I think people want it, and I think I can do it without ... it being campy, believe it or not. And I respect those things. I, in fact, love them."
He did say that Wonder Woman will feature his typical dialogue as seen in Buffy, Angel and Firefly "Absolutely. Wonder Woman's perspective is very serious. But that's what's so funny about her. She doesn't understand the world...She's not a wisecracker. But at the same time, she's not going to miss an opportunity... Usually, people I write are very, very down to earth and she's the opposite. She's somebody who is supposed to be Wonder Woman and spend her life being Wonder Woman but then she's still as vulnerable and as new at it as anybody else, but she's the opposite of every character I've ever written". He said about casting Wonder Woman that "There's a list. But the list is only in my head" however he also mentioned that he would like to have Lynda Carter for a cameo in the new film "If it's right for the movie. I think Lynda Carter's great...If I found something that was right, absolutely, but not if it takes you out of the narrative".

It's getting very close to the time when he neeRAB to name the actress who's got the part. I really hope it's Charisma Carpenter (yes, totelly biased). Have to wait and see.

Does anyone hvae any inside info?

The film is scheduled for 2007, so that could be another 27 months away for all we know. Now Serenity is afloat I think he'll probably march on with Wonder Woman soon.

YUK! Here in the States alot of Variety Mags are claiming Katie Holmes is tipped to play the young Wonderwoman. God, I hope not! - Steph

it was rumoured a while ago either Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia in Buffy and Angel) were up for the role or Sarah Michelle Gellar herself. He was meant to have preferred Sarah, but wouldn't mind Charisma as shes less well known and would like to put her more in the spotlight.

Personally, they are too "skinny" to play Wonder Woman imo, as she was a bit "chunkier" wasnt she? you need someone a bit curvier to play her imo.

as for eliza as black cat in spiderman, havent they already confirmed the bad guys in the new movie????
