In less than 24 hours from now I will be on the operating table. I was scared, but not anymore. I can't take the pain anymore. Yesterday I was actually thinking of calling the doctor and asking if I could just be hospitalized a day early, with a morphine pump. I can't do anything anymore. Literally, all I can do is lay there and pray that the time goes by. My body/ pain doesn't really seem to be responding to my pain meRAB anymore. I will be having a one level fusion of L5-S1, and I will have incisions in my back and abdomen. They said I will be in the hospital until Friday or Saturday. My little girl is going to sleep at her grandma's tonight, since I have to be at the hospital at 5:45 am. My surgery starts at 8 am. I am SO ready.

I will post as soon as I can!

I popped on before to see if you were around!! LOL!!! BEST OF LUCK SWEETIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll do just fine, and remeraber to tell the anesthesiologist that morphine doesn't work well for your pain! And make sure they put the IV line in your forearm and not where it benRAB by your elbow. I will be thinking of you and praying for you till I see you post after surgery!! I wish you luck and a speedy return home, you sleep much better when you're home than that roomate mine drove me NUTS! Remeraber when you try to get up out of bed to try your hardest to focus on your LEG muscles and using them, I usedto say outloud when I'd get up- use legs use legs use legs lol, not your back muscles as we're used to doing. Once you get the hang of it you do it quite well.

Will be thinking of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad you're mentally ready, it makes it so much easier to face and recover for sure. Soon you'll be feeling better day after day, week after week!

Megss,

Best of luck to you! You have certainly put in your time of being in severe pain prior to surgery.

I got the same way before my surgery - I just wanted to be out of pain and be semi-normal again! I wasn't really nervous in the days just prior to my surgery, but rather I was excited! I had no problem sleeping the night before my surgery.

Just relax today and after your surgery when you are in pain, realize that within a few days the post-surgery pain will be much less and you will be on the road to recovery. Be sure to let the nurses know if your pain is severe so they can give you something for it. I found out they can give Toradol which worked really well for me, but the morphine did nothing for me.

Good Luck Megss!!! I will be thinking of you and praying for you!!! You will be just fine and I'm glad you're not scared because you should just be looking forward to relief because you have suffered way too long. Relax and let others help you during recoup time-don't overdue do it! When you are able to, let us know how you are. Tami

Meggs-

GOOD LUCK!!! When I was 19 weeks pregnant and had my first back surgery, people asked me how scared I was. I was of course scared some, but I was in so much pain, I could not wait for the surgery! SounRAB like you are in the same place. I am praying for you :)

I'm so glad you're not even nervous anymore. You're ready! I hope everything goes even better than expected and that you'll be home quickly, resting and recovering. Let us know how you are. We'll be watching for a post-surgery post from you!

Yay! It's almost time!

Good luck Meggs! Wishing you a very successful surgery and recovery. This has been a long time coming for you. I will be having my fusion at the end of this month so we can compare notes.

Best wishes,
Patty

Megss, I agree with everyone else. You have waited a long time for this surgery. Hope all goes well.
