Will this iHome play my music out loud or does it just act as an alarm/radio?

Yeah I was looking at iHomes for a gift, and I was wondering if these will play my friends music out loud as if it were a stereo??
I was also wondering if these are the same item?

all of those ihome or speakers charge your ipod or music player and let you listen to your music out loud! The ihome isn't the cheapest you could get but basically does everything you wanted
