Will there Ever be Star Wars 7,8,9?

I think the lack of location filming is a huge let down in 1-3. But at least we get some Tunisia (Tatooine). The worst is the arena fight and the whole of Geonosis in Attack of The Clones.

And Indiana Jones.

I do agree that it had a good ending. And sure, the story didnt need to carry on, but the Zahn trilogy poved it could carry on and be as absorbing as the movies.

What, the Rick Berman of the Star Wars universe? No thanks.

I dunno, I never really liked the Thrawn trilogy that much. Wasn't Star Warsy enough :p There was another book that made a better continuation, can't for the life of me remember what it's called though. It began straight after Return of the Jedi ended.

The live action TV show was recently confirmed (by Steve Sansweet) for a 2012 debut. It's at the scripting stage at the moment. Whilst it's all external script writers (ex BSG actor Sam Witwer recently hinted that a former BSG writer is one of those writing for it), and GL is not scripting it, Kevin Smith's contribution seems to be nothing more than fan speculation.

I'm a big SW fan and if there was a 7, 8, 9 I would welcome it just because its Star Wars related. On the other hand I would want the new SW films to be directed by someone else other than GL.
GL has said in the past there would be no continue of the films but I always like to think, never say never because in years to come CGI will be more advanced and GL may change his mind, I live in hope.

Another Idea would be for movies to focus on characters like Boba Fett, Darth Maul etc, or a total revamp of Star wars with new actors like they did with Star Trek which, imo was a great movie.
I did read Hasbro has the star wars toys contract to 2018 so I do think other projects will be in the works.

Old Republic would be a great movie too, maybe to go with the new mmo thats coming out in a year or two from Bioware.

It's an urban myth. Lucas cleared this up yonks ago. The "three trilogies" notion came from a mis-quote in an interview given by Lucas after Return of the Jedi.

In said interview, Lucas was asked if he ever intended to make more Star Wars movies. He said he hoped to make another trilogy one day. He was then asked if he'd consider going back and making episodes 1, 2 and 3. Again, he said yes. The journalist then reported the Lucas intended to make a further 3 films, then go back and make episodes 1, 2 and 3.

Lucas has stated that his answer to both questions was always in reference to the prequals and he never had any intention of carrying the story on after "Jedi," as he considers it the end of the tale.

There is no reason to make 7-9. Lucas has always said, Star Wars is ultimately about Anakin's fall to the Dark Side and his redemption at the end of ROTJ. Since Vader is dead, it would be a bit difficult to make another trilogy.
There's the ongoing animated TV series and the live action series to keep the fans happy with other things in the Star Wars galaxy.

What I want to see, is a blu-ray box set of all 6 films with all the deleted scenes edited back in like the LOTR extended versions. Lucas neeRAB to realise there's a lot of hardcore fans (like me :o) that don't mind how long the end film will be. I will gladly sit and watch a four hour Star Wars film! Now stop fannying around and release them Lucas. Don't be so peevish...

What year was that interview roughly?

About Lucas saying its a end of a tale, we saw over 20 Star Destroyers at the end of Jedi, them and the Tie fighters still out numbered the rebels.

I cant accept it as end of the tale and what with storys after that.

Thing is, Lucas hasn't always said that. He's just said it a lot in the last few years. I don't mind his revisionism, but I would prefer if he were more straight about the process of the development of the saga.Aayla Secura was also originally an EU character.

I think you're right, the original idea was 3 sets of 3 trilogies, and the first 3 released (Episodes 4,5,6) were intended as the middle trilogy; however, Lucas didn't know if he'd be able to make the first trilogy (Episodes 1,2,3) in the 70s, which is why the 'Episode 4/5/6' titiles didn't appear until the re-release in the 90s.

Lucas has since retracted earlier statements once Episodes 1,2,3 were made. Having seen how the stroyline panned out from Episodes 1-6 ( the rise and fall of Darth Vader) and the fact the the extended universe (ie all the novels) are accepted as part of continuity, Lucas now has no plans to make a further trilogy of films.

He's supposedly content to leave the films as they are, as they follow a course to a natural end, with Vader's death. As far as he's concerned, the novels do an adequate job continuing the series. instead he's decided to focus his energies on the Clone Wars era - the gap between episodes 2 and 3, which so far we have had animated TV shows and an animated movie devoted to them; and if i'm right a live action TV series to follow.

Of course, in about 10 years the original trilogy will be rereleased, with Jar Jar Binks digitally added to key scenes. It's a little known fact that Jar Jar was the real pilot who destroyed the second Death Star.

Coo LP Coo

I think even a re-edit of 1-3 would be good. There's a lot a good stuff in those films, but unfortunately it tenRAB to get masked by the crap.

I don't think Lucas gives two hoots about continuity, and most of the problems can be explained away. But one thing I would change is Padme dying. I would shoot a new scene that shows her death to be fake so she is protected from the Empire. The whole funeral was done to thrown Vader and Palpatine off her scent. Padme actually goes to live on Alderaan with Leia, and dies there when Leia as a young girl.

That would clear up the one continuity problem that really bugs me, Leia telling Luke about her mother. Ok, I know she says it is 'feelings and images' rather than memories, but it still bugs me.

The only flaw in my idea is that Anakin/Vader would probably sense that Padme didn't die.

I'd also include the Mon Mothma scenes in Revenge of the Sith and the scene of Yoda arriving on Dagoba.

The Star Wars universe is so massive and diverse, I think there's room for many other stories. But perhaps leave the main one alone for now, the story has been told.

A big budget Star Wars TV show would be great, as long as Lucas is kept away
