Will our health and safety mad culture ever go back?

We have a culture of fear in the UK, signs everywhere warning of non-existent dangers, kids not allowed to run in playgrounds, warning labels on packets of peanuts saying may contain nuts... the world has gone nuts if you ask me. Will we ever go back to normality and God forbid.. common sense? Or has the compensation culture completely taken over?
Reply to Mark: Of course I am not suggesting that we go back to living in caves, I don't see how that has any relevance to the inane regulations we have in force today and the idea that someone else is always to blame. I saw a notice in a resaurant the other day that said "We are no longer allowed to warm baby's bottles at customers request due to health and safety regulations".
Now if the parents aren't intelligent enough to check the temperature of the bottle before feeding their offspring, then they aren't fit to be parents in my opinion. Why prevent the majority of sensible people doing things due to the actions of a stupid minority?
