I bought a new radio for my car (95 honda civic), when I had it installed, the guy said ALL my speakers were no good. (I can hear the music, but the quality is very poor.) And that, I should not, use my radio. He said that it will mess up the new radio. Is this true?

Like OMG is that bad Info, Wow
Ok, in all honesty here, It will not Break, damage, short circuit your radio period, Laughing here over ignorance on behalf of whom ever told you this "make more money out of you trick". Only, "if" the speaker terminals come in contact with each other this will only blow a fuse. Protecting the radio from lets say Harm.
Your speakers are of low quality and the sound you hear is all your going to hear. Now you can however upgrade those speakers naturally.

Unfortunately, yes. If the speakers are blown and you continue to use the stereo, you run the risk of frying the on board amp. So DON'T. There are a lot of reasonably priced speakers out there. That will be way cheaper than buying another new head unit.

What the guy told you IS true. I will explain a little better than he did for you though. Bad speakers can cause your radio to work harder than it should and this will cause it to get hotter than it should also. Eventually when one of the speakers completely fails.it can cause your radio to go into a protection mode which will cut off all sound to the remaining speakers in your car to "protect" itself from damage. It would be extremely wise to replace all of your bad speakers.
