Will ITV ever admit Daybreak is a disaster?

There's really no point in them trying to compete with the BBC on hard news, as the rescue of the Chilean miners showed when viewers turned in droves to the BBC.They should come up with a completely different type of programme, perhaps a sort of OK or Hello on TV without the news (or very short headlines), lots of showbiz interviews and gossip for people who like that sort of thing. And they might try signing up a few backroom people who actually have experience of breakfast TV not a bunch of refugees from The One Show as that has patently not worked. As I like my news and local news I shall be sticking with BBC.

I'm not surprised people aren't watching it. One of their 'top stories' this morning was about Gamu from XF on the red carpet at last nights MOBO awarRAB. Journalism at it's best, eh?:rolleyes:

I watched but a few seconRAB of Daybreak this morning. But during those few seconRAB they showed video of Jacqui Smith whilst talking about Yvette Cooper.....DOH!

If things don't pick up in the next month or two, their already-hollow claims that they're satisfied and new shows need time to bed-in won't even partly mask the embarrassment.

I certainly won't ever tune in. Like GMTV before it, Daybreak is quite simply beneath me.

Well I prefer Daybreak to GMTV. It has it's problems maybe, but give me Adrian, Christine, Dan and Kate any day over the extremely annoying Richard Arnold, the smug, annoying, Andrew Castle and equally smug and annoying Ben Sheppard. I liked Emma though and thought she was an adequate replacement for Fiona, so was sorry to see her go with the rest of them.

I like that Adrian has a dry sense of humour and doesn't wear a tie, and I like that Christine is giggly and perhaps a bit ditsy. I feel bad enough in the morning without having to watch a load of stuffed shirts slogging their way through a couple of hours of tv with little personality. Those two cheer me up.

No, I don't work for ITV, and I'm not related to anyone at ITV, I just happen to be one of the 6000, or whatever their figures are now who like this show. I'm usually in the minority on these things though. I loved The Bill and look what happened to that! Daybreak will probably go the same way.

I thought it was pretty bad at first but i like it now. Anything has to be better than the dreadful cast of gmtv. I know we still have to put up with the awful, desperate, Kate Garraway and the loathsome Lorraine Kelly but its a small price.

I quite enjoy watching it. Something easy to have on in the background whilst getting ready for work. I think Adrian & Christine are great together and I have even developed a slight crush on Adrian...
I do think the stories are random! This morning 'main headline, budget cuts! followed by Gamu may stay in the UK', not quite as important! But granted majority of the viewers maybe more interested in X Factor than government!
I much prefer it to GMTV...I hated the majority of their presenters & I think they have got th cast just right. Loving Dan Lobb's dry homour, I have a feeling for some reason we might see him on Dancing on Ice!! (I don't know why!! )

is it wrong that I have a small crush on Dan! When he does his awkward smile! It really is better with him and Kate and they should stay as permanent hosts and bring back other ex-gmtv people to cover for them when off..Adrian & Christine only worked for the one show..NOT for morning tv

Im sorry but i can't watch Daybreak it just makes me wanna fall asleep again  i miss the L.A interviews, bright colours, music that wakes you up ect i have nothing against Christine and Adrian they're great but its just the actual show itself!

They need to change the format.

I think ITV should have gone down more of a Big Breakfast style route. The (initial) success of The Big Breakfast was that it felt like a slightly madcap radio breakfast show, but on the TV.

People want a bit of comedy and humour in the mornings to wake them up and put a smile on their face. Not pointless celebrity news and style tips.

The problem with "Daybreak" is that it's falling between two stools. Not serious enough to be BBC Breakfast, not wacky enough to be the Big Breakfast. With Freshly Squeezed, Channel 4 no longer bother at all.

Chiles is completely wrong for Daybreak, his natural home is sport or lighter political issues. Bleakley is a nice girl but looks more like an embarrassed audience member than an anchor.

The show - and it's beautiful studio - will remain, but I think we'll see Lorraine Kelly or Kate Garraway on that couch come January.
