Will a 15" sub or 18" sub be able to keep up with metal's double bass?

I listen to a lot of metal with double bass and what not ( i dont think it is at a low frequency though). I was wondering if i were to get an 18 or 15 inch sub, if they would be able to keep up. I'm an spl fan and a metal head, though I do listen to a lot of rap. I kinda switch back and forth. Thanks for the help!
 
no, i would go with a couple 8's or a couple 10's... my 12's are just a little too big. they sound muddy with metal, and i heard some 10's that kicked ass!
