Wii Power Usage Compared to Xbox360

First of all, this may not be 100% accurate, but it was tested by 1 guy with a power meter.

Wii:
- In Standby Mode: 10w
- Idle @ Wii menu: 17w
- Running a Wii Game (Test with Zelda / Trauma Center) in 480i: 17w

XBox 360:
- In Standby Mode: 2w
- Idle @ Dashboard: ~140w
- Running a Game: ~160w
- Playing a DVD: ~110w

Its obvious that the 360 would be a huge power drain with its hardware but looking at the Wii running Zelda at 17w is an incredible power saver compared to 160w.

Idle at dashboard is almost the same as running a game

Oh and according to a Danish guy, the PS3 uses 380w playing a game lol

Cliffs? The Wii will barely effect your electricity bill.

when i was over my brother in laws house, his 360 made his computer monitor dim when he turned it on. connected to the same power strip, probably too many other high load devices on it also

you gotta remember the countless hours spent playing zelda will make up for difference in the little bit you'd be playing the ps3 on your electric bill...

I would tend to agree with this except some people pay a lot for energy usage. In NC, where I am leaving the PS3 on all the time would cost me $8 per month. Granted I'm not going to keep it on all the time.

I'm not saying that is going to break anyone financially, especially if they can afford a $600 system. I did calculate wrong though.

The Wii would cost .99 per month at 17watts
The xbox would cost 9.34 per month at 160watts
The PS3 would cost 22.19 per month at 380watts.

Granted, that's 24 hours per day and at .08 kw/h
