Why would anyone be AGAINST national healthcare???

There is no armed force that could be trusted to it. Plus there is no one who would do it for altruistic reasons.

Idealy it wouldn't be done by force. But I don't think there is anyway to positively do that right now.

The best way to overthrow dictators would be to educate a population. This would cause people to fight their own battle, and make them appreciate their freedom more. It would also allow them to form their own government, which would understand the population more, instead of a foriegn force propping it up. Plus education would enrich every apect of their lives.

You really want ot get into this start a new thread so this one isn't hijacked.

Unless you were just making a lousy arguement with nothing more than rhetoric to back it up.

if you support the continuation of the war in Iraq like McCain does wouldn't it be hypocritical to say you arent happy with the amount of spending it takes to maintain the war?

go ahead dance around yet another question because we all know answering a real question in political debates just doesnt happen.

cool story. Glad you guys are OK.

I don't agree that there should be no insurance. Insurance spreads the risk across a massive group of people, where some will pay a bit more than the use and some will pay a bit less. But it's better for everyone.

Ala Carte would make it impossible for some people to afford life, which is the most valued posession. Illness knows no tax bracket, someone who is poor can get cancer just as easily as someone who is rich.

Health care is just far too overpriced, and people go into the MD profession with the sole goal of making money and being rich, when it used to be because they wanted to help people. Seems like prices just kept artificially inflating. There is no way a doctor's time for an hour of general "check up" is worth hundreds of dollars. Multiply that by many times for surgery, of course.

In your case I think insurance practices need to be reformed in some way to weed out the frivilous unnecessary treatments like your CAT scan. I personally don't know how though.

Yeah the supply will never meet the demands of the 'richest country in the land'. that doesnt sound a little pathetic to you?

I know! Catch this....More people will go to medical school because there will be more demand for doctors! Wow, that was close!
Fucking idiot.

that line in bold at the end doesn't help your case, OP. but i'll add this:

Because the US government would be running my healthcare, thanks but no thanks. Just ask military families how they feel about their government run healthcare.

Ah, you have swallowed deeply the cold war BS that keeps your people in the state they are in.

What makes you think you have good healthcare now? Is it because of your lousy life expectancies? or perhaps your high level of disease? Maybe it's the fact you pay more than anyone else. It's like a placebo, except one that doesn't work.

Why not look into some other countries system, see how little they pay in comparison, and how much better off they are.

Imagine if your country paid the same amount of money as it does now, except it all went to doctors, nurses, space, equiptment, medicine and technology. Instead of Billions going to share holders pockets.. You would discover you have too much staff, and too many beds, then yyou would need to spend less money.

You f*ing tool. Your country is not the top anymore. It has the potential to be, but too much of your population is so scared to consider how far you have fallen and how blind the majority is.

Look at this election. Deep down you all now that it will be buisness as usual, and the majority of you poor saps will have limited financial freedom, and live in fear of getting sick, and have a governement that lies out of it;s ass at you to get you to not bitch about doing what it wants.

Don't you get that your government is people? When they lie to you, it's your governement lieing to you.

Dumb yank..

Uninsured health care cost tax payers around 125 billion. I would rather pay that (well i would rather pay neither, but...) then the trillions universal health care will cost.

And I agree that it's the right thing to do, (I donate to charity) I just do not agree the it should be mandated by the government.

calm down nancy, quit trying to start fires. I just want the government to get control of these godamned corporations instead of these corporations having control over the government. when the motive is more profit quality goes down.

And if the only way to help the truly needful is to help those that are lazy, are you still willing to? Or are you willing to punish the desperately helpless in order to limit what can be had for free?

So what I'm asking is will you pay more than what the needy need, to ensure that the needy get it?

And all these people that are saying if you want something then work for it are ignoring other points. Like the fact that your country has a life expectancy lower than most other 1st world nations (though your incredibly stupid gun laws contribute alot to that). And that your country has more disease than other countries that spend less on healthcare.
