Why would a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R (J1) not like to start whilst warm?

I've had this problem for a while now, its always on and off. The bike loves starting when cold, its completely fine then. But if on a big ride or short ones for that matter, it won't start after warming up properly. This causes problems as I tend to be persistent at starting it which causes the battery to run a wee bit low from the attempts. End result; call someone off the road to either help jump or bump start the bike. Its really pushing my limits now, I've gotta find out whats doing this. I've had ideas it might be the thermostat but haven't been able to check it out. Some people recommend I open the throttle as I may have a lot of petrol in thecarburetorr but that doesn't always work either, or if it does, makes one heck of a noise to anyone surrounding (nothing like attracting a bit of attention, eh?). Anyone have any ideas? Im really starting to lose patience with it, considering how much I love the bike otherwise. I just need a nice ride, without any complications!

Thanks, Eol

So does it take much of a bump start to get it going? If it starts easily when pushed, then it sounds like the battery. Some engines are very sensitive to cranking speed when it comes to starting.

Hard starting when hot has always been related to fuel when I have had the same problems (with cars).

Considering she starts fine when cold, or left to cool, it is not a spark problem. I am assuming that your bike is not overheating either.

I'm guessing it could be fuel delivery. Start with testing your pump, fuel lines (if your engine is running hot, your going to experience vapor lock). Your problem may be related to heat, and the affect it is having on fuel delivery (boiling point, vapor blocking lines, pump failure due to heat).
