Why won't my MIDI keyboard work with FL studio?

I have an Electronic Yamaha Piano P-120 and a MIDI USB.
I open fl studio and I select Options > Midi Settings and enable my USB Midi Cable.
I'm guessing it should work because it appears in the input list.
But when I hit notes on the piano, it doesn't work. The instruments in fl don't play when I hit notes and the light in the top left corner does not blink. Why can't i get a signal? What am I doing wrong?
I appreciate your answer but I already have 'Microsoft midi mapper' selected as well as 'generic controller' and 'Enable Midi Remote Control' is checked.

Maybe my cable is in-compatible with my keyboard.
 
Had a hell load of trouble with that too,
make sure your midi output is set to 'microsoft midi mapper' and you select 'generic controler' as controller type. And if it still doesn't work , go to the options menu and select 'Enable Midi Remote Control'.
