Why is perry trying to take the U.S back to the days when the church ruled western civilization?

The U.S is a secular Nation, religion in society is an issue from the 17th century,We as a country should not still be talking about such a topic.If you choose to worship that is fine and we shouldn't be persecuting others for having different religious beliefs.Just remember "separation of church and state." Why are cons still on this topic?It's 2011.

@vagisil No,but I am a little surprise rick would want to bring prayer back in school.i never knew how crazy conservatives can be.
