Why is my father so ignorant about asian cultures?

When I went to Japan for study abroad he kept mocking the Japanese in what sounded like a poor angry Chinese man voice.

Now I'm taking taekwondo and he asked me if I'm learning a five point killing technique. He maneuvered how it would go. *sighs*

Can't he try and appreciate asian cultures without making fun of them? For the record, he's a German - he grew up in Europe.

On the contrary, he's very interested -- to the point of mocking them. He does it in a playful manner. I just wish he was more serious about it.
 
Try to ignore him and move out as soon as you can.
I am sorry he is so ignorant.
Germans have always thought they were better than everyone one else. (I guess they weren't -- they lost the two wars they started.)
 
I think there is just simply no interest in those cultures, just as if someone has no interest in Star Wars or nuclear physics, chemistry would probably be just as ignorant of Star Wars characters and worlds, nuclear physics, or chemistry.
 
i don't think you can do anything hun..... my dad's the same way except with everyrace except his own..... well at least the blacks out here in amreica (were fromm belize and he claims they are better there) but anyway this makes him moderately like every other race so basically he does the same thing ur dad does with asains + all the other races.... he mimicks indians(south east asains) playfully as a dotor w/ a heavy accent.... and more but... just be grateful that ur not born from a racist man and that even though he jokes around alot he has a good heart and ano open mind.. hope this helps
 
who cares? He is having a bit of fun.

Maybe he has no interest in Asian cultures? Did you ever think of that? Is there anything wrong with that? No.
