Why is it that the government don't do enough to educate people about managing credit?

Is like everyone has access to credit but little education about how credit should be used, what is intended for, etc... Most use of credit is to buy things people is not able to afford with what they have which I think is sad. Why we don't see a real effort by the authorities to educate people since their young, at school for example. it's almost like the system is waiting for people to missuse credit, after all that we've been through I don't see a change in this regard.

Good point. they probably never thought of it. Congress iz mai dumb pal! Anyway to the person ahead of me, who will educate the parents about credit until they've ruined theirs. A lot of people still don't know a whole lot about it except with little credit you are SCREWED.

Parents should educate their kids about credit. Useful information should be available, read, and understood. Parents are suppose to teach responsible practices to their kids.

The govt has NO business doing this. They need to ensure the companies operate properly and appropriately, with no unsavory business practices to harm consumers.

Why do you think the Government is supposed to be responsible for everyone. We need to stand on our own feet. Parents are supposed to teach children basic responsibilities, including handling one's own finances.

It's up to YOU to educate yourself about the +'s & -'s of credit card use/abuse. A good rule of thumb is the phrase "If it sounds to good to be true,it probably is.". If the companies offering credit so easily couldn't make a fortune off of the people who are ignorant of their lending practices & rates, they wouldn't be offering credit through the mail in the form of pre-approved credit cards.
It's easy to buy something you can't afford today & tell yourself you'll pay tomorrow, when you have more money. Tomorrow never comes!
