Why is it that my fellow Americans insist that we as a nation have a culture that is

being destroyed? It is usually said by some of my rather extreme fellow Christians. They remark that because of Atheism, homosexuality, liberalism, feminism, and so on, that we as a nation are losing our culture. Well, I say we as a nation have a culture of change and not a culture that is stuck on custom. If you want to live in a country stuck on custom, try living in Iran for a few years and then perhaps you will get some of that fun custom stuff.

Look, most of these people who make the biggest issue about progress and change are people who really have no idea what they are talking about. If you really want to return to true American culture and custom, you need to stop looking at the white Christian conservative and start looking at who was here first and longer- the Native Americans and their tribal customs and culture. Right?
Just because it is an oxymoron doesn't negate that it can exist as such and by answering in that way, you have avoided the enitre question. How simplistic....
First answerer,

You simply refuse to answer the question, don't you? You quibble over semantics without regard to the question. Is it really that hard to answer or do you just not have the ability to answer the question and instead want to point out definitions of words.

It is difficult to see a central theme in the culture of America besides eating and Shopping. Those have become the new pass times and religions. You seem quite frustrated with the people who you are around. Try not to have too much conflict as it will do damage to your health. Merry Christmas to all.

I beg to differ with you but, I do ,I think some changes are a good thing but it is getting to the point today that most of us White Americans (Yes I said it) are ashamed of who we are because of the so called open minded people who can't let go of the past.As long as this world stands there is going to be hate, war, starvation, etc. etc.that is the way of controlling the population it called the chain of life

"A culture of change" is an oxymoron.

Here are two definitions of

culture.

The behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group.

The sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another.

How well does change fit into that equation.

I'm not saying never change, but change does in fact destroy culture, while time and consistency builds culture back up.

Edit:

Also if you admitted it is an oxymoron and yet still believe it exits, then maybe you need the definition of

oxymoron

a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, a self-contradictory effect/statement

Added:

Actually, I'm giving you the thought processes of why some people see such as a weapon against culture, you just don't want to accecpt that there is logical thinking behind it.

I don't what Americans YOU'VE been talking to but the Americans I KNOW don't 'insist' that. And I am ONE America who disagrees with those know nothing, liberal Americans you've been talking to....if any.
