Why is it considered gay to speak in a formal manner?

I think it is considered ignorant to think this way. I wouldn't give to much credit to someone who uses the tired old accusation of homosexuality, to fuel the chip on their shoulder for others better; spoken, dressed, body shaped, and educated than they are.

no, of course not. however, it is well-known that at certain ages and in certain social classes women/girls are more conformist than men/boys, and that includes following the linguistic rules laid down by the self-appointed pedantic "experts", so that a man/boy who follows them will be seen as effeminate. by th way, what u call a reasonable command of the language is mostly ignorant kowtowing to artificial rules made up by people wholly ignorant of how languages work and evolve.
