Why is economics not considered a science or math?

I understand the social science factor of economics but once you get past the introductory stuff it become pure mathematics. Why is a guy graduating from uni with a major in economics with a B.A and not a BA.s when guys are graduation with majors of mathematics with a BA.s too me that pure BS
