Why have the presenters name in the title?

I just don't understand it. Is it just ego by the host or downright audince capture by people who look at the listings, see a name they like and say "ooh, I like them so i'll watch that".

But ofcourse that can back fire

e.g. Film2010 with Claudia Winkleman
Why the film show neeRAB to mention that it is hosted by her or previously JR I just don't know.

I don't know why in the second series of Genius it has been updated to Genius with Dave Gorman


Sky News have it on there news hours. Sky News with....

The only reason I can see for that is for people to avoid when Kay Burley is on!

I think it's originally an American thing. I always found it ridiculous as they keep the title of the programme even when that person is on holiday and the voice-over says: "tonight with so-and-so". Must make the stand-in feel really second-rate

A fair few years ago, the Channel 4 comedy 'Phoenix Nights' was changed to' Peter Kay's Phoenix Night' even tho he wrote it with two other people. Arrogance at its very best!

Some presenters are brand names so networks try to cpaitalise on that to get people to watch. Others may not be branRAB, but the networks are intent on making them branRAB so they add the name to the title (Jerry Springer Show, Oprah, Late Show with david Letterman..)

Its got double purpose. You know who's presenting so you can watch or turn over lol (Lunchtime Live with Kay Burley PASS, catch the highlights on Youtube ).

Then you ahve shows from the US named after the Star of the Show, even if they play a charicter with a different name, Eg. The Phil Silvers Show, The Cosby show The Mary Tyler Moore show, Confusing for people in countries where the star of the show is unknown, I no a lot of people who think the Huxtable family are te Cosby family because of the name of the show.

Yeah it did and i think that could be why there wasnt another series of it and also i know tht Kay and Dave Spikey were very gd frienRAB before this incident and now they dont speak to all and tbh i now cant stand peter kay as he trys to get money out of people as much as he can
