Why does the dealer want me to lie to my car loan provider?

A friend recently purchased a car from a dealership. She has bad credit and had to go through a sub-prime lender. The person who handled the financing asked her to:
1) Write two checks for a total down payment of 2500. One would be cashed immediately, the other, about a month later. She was told by the dealer to tell the bank she paid it all up front.
2) Tell the bank that the car has a sunroof. The dealer claimed to make a mistake and wants her to lie when the bank calls, allegedly so they don't have to redo the paper work.

This all sounds very suspicious to me. Any suggestions?

The dealer knows that he has no business selling her the car because she should NOT get financing and without the lies would not. HE is interested only in his commission from the sale. People who don't qualify legitimately for loans are the ones most likely to default on the loan and have the car repossessed. The dealer doesn't car since it will be the lender not the dealer who is out the money.

In order to get financed the bank needed 5k down. The dealer wanted to sell the car so they are being dishonest with the bank. No problem unless your friend can't handle a little lie to the bank. She probably couldn't get financed otherwise.
