A friend recently purchased a car from a dealership. She has bad credit and had to go through a sub-prime lender. The person who handled the financing asked her to:
1) Write two checks for a total down payment of 2500. One would be cashed immediately, the other, about a month later. She was told by the dealer to tell the bank she paid it all up front.
2) Tell the bank that the car has a sunroof. The dealer claimed to make a mistake and wants her to lie when the bank calls, allegedly so they don't have to redo the paper work.
This all sounds very suspicious to me. Any suggestions?
