why does my car stereo not work unless I put the yellow and red wires together?

I am putting a sony stereo in my car, I also have a 600 watt dual brand amplifier and 2 kenwood 12 inch subs. my stereo will not turn on unless I have the red and yellow wires touching. I thought it was the fuse but I replaced it and I still have to touch those wires to work.
the red wire is connected to the red wire on the adapter plug and same with the yellow but you have to put all four together for it to work. my car is a 2002 pontiac aztec
 
check different fuses. i guarantee thats what it is. its happened to me twice. i thought i had all fuses chcked but it was one i didint expect. check all of them
 
An easy check is to measure the voltage on each wire. The red should be switch power (ACC) and the yellow should be constant.
