I guess I must be one of the more radical elements then. You see, Public Education is not the job of the Federal Government. That is reserved, by the Constitution to the State Governments. That includes Libraries and State Colleges. The same for the EPA and the whole alphabet soup of Federal Bureaucracies.
Just to bring you up to date, the cost of a college education has skyrocketed since the Federal Government began handing out grants and student loans. It is a matter of supply and demand. Colleges have routinely increased their tuition way beyond the rate of inflation for generations now. Why? Because there is no shortage of students with borrowed money to pay. If the Federal Government stayed out of it, these schools would have to lower their tuition rates or face empty classrooms.
You have to accept the undeniable truth that the Federal Government screws up everything it touches when it steps outside the boundaries the Constitution sets for it. Accept that a Federal Bureaucrat in Washington does not know better than your local Government or you when it comes to your needs.
Do you know that the Federal Department of Education did not even exist until Jimmy Carter created it? Before that, our Public School system was the envy of the world. It provided us with a steady stream of well educated scientists and engineers that took us to the moon and back.
Where are we now? How much more of our wealth are we to waste not educating students? Corporate profiteering? The corporation I work for pays for its employees to attend college and even has a program encouraging us to get Master's Degrees. All of this while paying us and making a profit. What is wrong with making a profit?
The wealth of this great nation is created by business. No government bureaucracy can do that. What part of this don't you understand? Can't you see what is happening in Europe? Socialism is nothing more than a system of rationing of existing wealth until it is exhausted. Well, that wealth is all but exhausted in Europe, yet the people are taking to the streets protesting for more government spending.
No corporation has ever victimized me in all of my long life. Corporations have allowed me to have a very high standard of living. In fact, we could not even be communicating on this medium without Corporations like Apple or Microsoft.
Entrepreneurs like Jobs and Gates have accomplished more in one career than the Federal Government has in 235 years. They have created vast wealth. They have created multiple millionaires. They have created tens of millions of jobs directly and indirectly. All while giving us products and services we want and need. Value given for value received. Learn it, live it, love it.
There isn't any value coming from the Federal Government. None!
