Why does feminism have such an image problem?

Because of the sexism, double standards and ignorance of feminists

"Thats crazy. You can't compare female genital mutilation to circumcision. First off the foreskin is dirty and causes diseases. Second I don't like how it looks. Eeewwww. Third, circumcision stops the spread of AIDS (women suffer terribly from males spreading AIDS).

That "skin" needs to get tidied up for everybody's sake. Men who complain about "sensitivity" or lack of choice are being selfish.

But female genital mutilation needs to be stopped worldwide right away, even it means attacking other countries or cutting off their food supplies".

Because people spend so much time trying to write off the movement as a bunch of lesbian man-haters. And for the most part, they've been effective. I mean, just look at the other responses. It's like these people have never read an actual feminist author.

feminism promotes sexism against men and boys, does their best to marginalize men and boy's concerns, and encourages women to feel angered and oppressed by feeding them all sorts of lies. It does absolutely no good for anyone. Saying feminism caused everyone to be equal and that feminism is the be all end all of equality is ridiculous. Someone who truly cared for all human beings would not be a feminist , they would be a human rights activist.

Of the various flavours of feminism, the ones that encourage the exclusion of males and the spread of misinformation in the form of skewed, false statistics etc, are the forms of feminism that have effed it up for those who actually love men , and want "humanism" and 'equity" that which includes both sexes getting along and helping eachother for eachothers causes.
Sorry for the long winded sentance.
I'd also guess that many self proclaimed feminists, have poor self image issues too , which tend to bleed into their dogma about "men being the azzhole oppressors of the world of women".
When some negative aspects of some feminist dogma starts out with the "woe is me" crap, (as it's easy to pick men as targets for all of one's problems), I tend to be really turned off.
Like a big circle jerk for "women only".
Men and women aren't equal. They're different.
They should , as Maya Angelou said, "strive for equity".
