why does american culture tell normal decent men to downgrade and go for

fat and ugly women? Is it cause fat women are the majority in America and there are few very slender women left ?
America is one of few nations where I have seen women weigh more than the men.
I am not talking about fat men. I am talking about men of normal weight and size . In Europe, regular men are told to aim high, but in America they are told to aim low.
