American Academy of Otolaryngology put it in a press release responding to Mr. Obama’s commentary.

Clinical guidelines says AAO suggest that “In many cases, tonsillectomy may be a more effective treatment, and less costly, than prolonged or repeated treatments for an infected throat.”

the harvard scholar made it sound like physicians are performing unnecessary tonsillectomies to make a quick buck. if i was a physician, i'd be a little miffed at that statement. obama should have calibrated his words in this statement.
