own bodies? It shocks me that a lot of women and girls can't use the proper terminology for vulva, vagina, anus, urethra, labia etc and even if they know what the words they often fail to use them and don't know exactly where things are.
I don't understand why teenagers seem to think they'll get pregnant from oral sex or mutual masturbation...
I can't comprehend how young people and adults things buying condoms is embarrassing.
I find it odd that women and girls get embarrassed about talking about menstruation.
It is especially worries me that I, at 17, can tell most women more about their own menstrual cycle than they have ever bothered to research.

I wondered the same thing. One of my best friends can't even say the word vagina with out getting embarrassed and she can't talk about periods. I have an educated guess though. though out the years generation after generation have been taught that sex, masturbation, periods, etc. are taboo subjects. When ever somebody talks to us about it they are nervous and uncomfortable. And for the part about not knowing about certain thing i think that's because if you think about it we only have two sex ed classes in our whole school experience. They can't expect us to know all about sex in just two classes. Ugh. I't really frustrating to hear teenagers not know about their own bodies. I'm also 17. I really hope this helps you understand it a little bit better: ) I am going to try my best to make sure people are informed.
