Why do we spend more money imprisoning Americans than we do educating them?

Well the education system in the US has been under liberal union control for over 40 years.

(I know, I work for a school district)

I see how well "educated" our kids are 1st hand. Some can barely write their own names, but still "graduate".

If schools did better educating kids, they wouldn't end up in prison. But the current school system is more of a babysitter service vs. an education platform.

Can you show some stats of how many US schools are private vs. public?

Can you show me stats on how private schools do educating children vs. public.

I can:

A public-funded (2 year waiting list, our daughter has been on the admissions lottery since she was a 4 month old fetus) charter in our home town had a 97.11% college placement rating this year. Out of 208 seniors, 202 have been accepted to colleges around the country.

Can you show me any traditional public school that can even get close to those numbers?

How about some stats about how many US prisons are private vs. public?

Here's a few facts about the wonder public school system:

In the Los Angeles Unified School District:

By 9th Grade 70% of kids are below proficient in Math and English

60% of Black and Latino male drop out of high school.

Stats like this are not limited to LA only, I've observed similar numbers all across the country.
 
Because education is not going to stop a criminal mind from thinking it can get away with sh!t without getting caught.

If the prisons fill up, build more. Put a bunch of construction people and guards to work. See if I care.
 
That is what happens when you privatize. Operations become about profit, thus more costly to the consumer, in this case the consumer is the tax payer. Now, you have a system where the prison industry is spending millions of dollars lobbying congress for stricter sentences all for $$.
